Star Wars Battlefront: Great Game or Great Gimmick?

Couldn't disagree more.

I'm sick of shooters and was dead set against buying this.

I told "Hardline" to take a hike and was glad I did. "BLOPS" is another miss I don't regret and I'm no poorer for missing out on "HALO 5".

Though these shooters all received a bit of a polish there's nothing that really sets them apart from being 'just another shooter'.

With "Star Wars: Battlefront" there are 2 things that set it apart.

Firstly: It's "Star Wars" with the universe perfectly rendered

Secondly: It's a pretty good shooter that rewards you for shooting, rather than not having a job or any other games and playing nothing else all day so can you have access to more powerful weapons to give you an advantage over 'new players' that you're
not really supposed to need in the first place.

"Titanfall", "Evolve" and "Star Wars: Battlefront" are all great games.

Didn't "The Witcher 3" release without an online campaign?

That was a great game too.

Yep,I'd pretty much given up on shooters until this came out,Halo,COD etc. are just so boring to me but this is great fun.

Would I had bought it if it wasn't Star Wars? Probably not but it is,i did & am loving every minute of it

 

There is some serious LAG at times, shot someone 'till weapon overheated. He then killed me but was still on 100% health.

 

I've had a couple of game freezes but considering all the games I've been playing since Thursday past, it's not really a big deal.

it's impressively smooth so far... especially for an EA launch.

 

EA is really starting to improve themselves, when they release their games, they don't come out broken like they used to.

 

Can somone tell me how good the survival mode is?

 

^I've only played one map so far and enjoyed it, if memory serves there's 20 waves of enemies to get through and they get progressively harder.

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying the multiplayer on this though, I hardly touch MP on any game but that's virtually all I play now, got to say I think Walker Assault is the best mode, love the atmosphere! As Badger said though, would I have bought it
without the Star Wars licence? Probably not!

 

Survival is pretty good.

It's horde mode but with some objectives and collectibles thrown in.

Your unlocks from multi-player may be used and the difficulty can be cranked up higher.

Best of all, just like the MP... feels like Star Wars.

So funny last night, me in a group of about 10 stormtroopers running into an uplink station corridor, Luke Skywalker pops up, 'nope', everyone does a u turn and pegs it back out again!

 

Why doesn't this have private matches? It seems another odd move, all feedback from other FPS'ers without private matches ask for private matches but there still isn't any in BF, or do you have to pay for it in a DLC?

 

You can have private matches.

Just select the Co-op missions.

Otherwise you're able to take a party of 8 into an online match.

 

So, is it looking really beautiful? I refuse to buy it because people say it runs at 720p only! Is this true? How does this affect the visuals? And please, don't give me the "it doesn't matter" " It's 2015 not 2005.
