It's coming to XBox ONE.

If other people get to play it too I'm actually happy about that.

 

Azrael008uk, that's a very different statement then "Game X comes to Xbox".

In short, it's a Multi-platform Game that is coming to PS4.

 

I suppose it depends on whether you come to the XBox Forums for news about games that are XBox related or if you come to just come here looking for arguments and if there isn't one going then just try hard to make one up.

Not sure why you always have to be such a Blank Candlestick but I'd say it's just about time we all put on our Fishy Slippers and took this one to Sheffield.

At the risk of slipping back on topic we'll have to see what they come out with to see if it's great... or if it's hindered by a paywall rather than enhanced.

 

STO is not hindered by a paywall on pc, while there is a subscription that you can purchase, its completely optional, i'm level 55 and spent well over a 1000 hours playing STO and i havent spent any real world currency on the game at all.

 

From what I've seen a lot of uniforms are locked behind a paywall but there is still a good selection for free.

Slightly better variants of ships you unlock through promotions can be bought with real money but you can upgrade your ships with ingame currency & stuff you loot pretty easily & a few other bit's & bobs but nothing that would hinder you if you just wanted
to play for free.

 

I love Star Trek enough to give this a go then.

If you can get all the stuff by simply playing and enjoying the game then the shop is there for the people that want to get the quick boost I suppose.

The only potential problem with this game is that there's too much stuff being released that wants to command ALL your time.

It's like a jealous girlfriend who doesn't want you spending time with other people or even looking at them.

It's bad for gaming. I love a good grind that does pay off. For me "Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition" is a great example of finding a decent balance between effort and reward.

But other games, "Destiny", "Battlefield", "COD", "FLOPS" and many others are designed to try and suck you in and then keep you there, afraid to play other titles for fear of falling behind in the race to have the best stuff in these time sucking games.

It would be a shame if "Star Trek" is more a grind Time Sink than a fun Time Sink

 

I have a feeling it will suck up a lot of my time.

There's 3 different campaigns from what I can see & each one looks to be a good number of hours long.

Been watching the Federation story line playthrough & it looks quite fun but helps if you have a bit of knowledge of Star Trek.

 

What is the ship combat like?

I'm presuming there's ship combat?

 

Tons of ship combat.Seems to be kind of a naval style combat.

I'm just going from what I've seen.Not actually played it myself.

 

Does anyone else remember the days when MMO's just weren't possible on Xbox? Ah, how far we've come!

What has me intrigued about this game is the following sentence: 'When the game steps into the transporter this fall, it will bring with it content developed over six years on PC. Star Trek Online will launch with two expansions and 11 seasons of updates.'

That makes me feel like it will have some quality behind it, though I would like to know exactly what the paid content is before jumping in.

 

Think Defiance was quite successful on the 360 then Neverwinter just took off on the xbox one so the same people who made Neverwinter are now releasing Star Trek onto consoles.They're even giving the graphics a makeover for the console versions..

The playthrough I've been watching is not spending a single penny on anything & is having no trouble.Just looks like you can get better versions of things you get for free if you spend real money.

Obviously,this could change for consoles.

In "Star Trek: The Next Generation" Season 7 Episode 9 "Force Of Nature" they discover that travelling at high Warp speeds is bad for the environment.

For this reason you're not supposed to push it past Warp 5 unless there are extenuating circumstances.

So you can go fast if you want to.

Just expect to get a ticket.
