Standard Headset thinks its an adapter.

Hey am having problems with my Standard Xbox One headset.

The issue is that my Xbox think am using an adapter and displays this when I go into Setting under controller....

The game sound is playing through the headset so I cant hear anyone when in chat

Anyone have any ideas on this, is it a fault with the headset or a software issue????

Xbox One headsets glitched out

I'm currently having the same problem. I've tried different controllers, I've tried the standard issue headset and the headset adapter. I don't think the hardware is the issue...

Will an Xbox 360 mic work with an Xbox One console?

no unfortunately not if its the standard issue 360 headset that comes with the console, some other headsets do, i use my 360 turtle beach X12's which needed the headset adapter to work

Been in contact with MS and after ruling out any network problems. MS have agreed to replace the headset as they believe it has t be faulty. Once I get the replacement one I will post an update.

What headset are you using?

Be aware that there are two standards of headset plugs called CTIA and OMTP. On both standards, the Microphone and ground connector on that plug are reversed.

For a headset to work properly, the headset connector has to be a CTIA standard plug. If your headset is a phone headset (e.g. Apple or some older Android or Nokia compatible headsets), then they use the OMTP standard, and won't work properly.

If you do have an OMTP compatible headset, simply buy a CTIA to OMTP adapter (or since the adapter simply crosses two wires, it is automatically an OMTP to CTIA adapter as well). Also, since the adapter only crosses two wires, these adapters should be dirt
cheap. If a store asks you to pay for this adapter more than you'd pay for a Coffee to Go, you're being ripped off.
