    SSD upgrade from HDD

Is it possible to upgrade my HDD to an SSD drive?

I have a 1TB HDD drive and I'd like to upgrade it to an SSD for improved performance.

I've searched around and only find references to an external SSD drive.

The Elite is coming out with a SSD drive, so I am quite curious. Even if the Elite is modified for the SSD drive.

    :)

  2. Upgrading HHD to SSD in Xbox One S

    Hello everyone

I have been researching for quite a while information to upgrade the Xbox One S from 1 TB HHD to a 500GB/1TB SSD memory.

I have seen some videos on youtube where they show the difference in speed from SSD to HDD:

Also, there is another video that shows how to open and improve the HDD of your Xbox One:

Now, my question about this upgrade is:

Can I upgrade the internal hard drive to a solid state drive?

If yes, do I get ban from Xbox live for doing so?

I know you can use a 3.0 USB and use an external SSD drive but I am interested in the internal one.

The warranty is not a problem, I'm sure it will be void but I really care about the SSD replacement, if I can be safe after the change and it is possible I would give a try SSD upgrade from HDD :).

    Thanks.

Just as the change from a mechanical HDD to a SSD is not an upgrade. Just as the change from a 90nm CPU to a 45nm CPU is not an upgrade. Just as a cooler, more efficient GPU chipset is not an upgrade from an less efficient and hotter version.

My concern is that the XBOX One is an underperforming piece of hardware that cannot keep up. And your counterargument consisting of, "Nu-uh" is not in the least bit convincing.

    SSD upgrade from HDD

    Hey Wikkiwild1!

I'm afraid there isn't an option for you to replace the internal HDD. As you mentioned, you can use an external SSD so long as it has at least 256GB of storage and a USB 3.0 connection SSD upgrade from HDD :)

Can you use a Seagate Storage Expansion Card along with an WD_BLACK 5TB P10 Game Drive on a Xbox series X

At least you gave the right advice about the optimised/upgraded SeriesX/S games only be played from the internal storage or an expansion card as there's been some bad advice given by some that you can play optimised/upgraded games from an external hdd/ssd.

If I have the same XBox One game saved to multiple external drives, how can I tell which drive is being used?

if i'm not mistaken the game run from last known location so if it was last run on HDD and you add the SSD without unplugging the HDD it will most likely run from the HDD

edit: so you can copy to the SSD unplug the HDD start the game then plug the HDD back and it should run from SSD in the future

and if it does not work properly you can always simply just move the game (removing it from HDD) instead of copying

would changing the Xbox One S internal drive cause problems ?

specifically, where - in the EULA terms - does microsoft say that replacing the internal HDD in an Xbox One will result in the console being banned from use with Xbox Live ?

is there distinction in the terms between an end user vs. Microsoft servicing the console ?

I still wish to upgrade to an internal SSD, in order to improve the overall experience with the gaming system. i've done similar upgrades on on other devices where an SSD replaced an HDD and gotten nothing but performance boosts.

if i do commit to this upgrade and the console does get banned .... there are always other options out there. for games like Halo, I can always look to the PC version of the game - otherwise we have no dependency on exclusive titles.
