SSD size between the Series S and X

Both consoles use the exact same motherboard and custom SSD. The Series S being a fully digital console comes with less than half the initial storage space as the Series X. Why? It says 512gb but it's actually closer to 300gb. I wouldn't mind paying an extra £50 for the S to have a 1tb SSD or the storage space it is listed as. But 300gb is nothing with today's games. So what is the point and why does it come with 300gb??

    :)

    No, they didn’t.

Notice how PlayStation is making you buy a heatsink? Xbox made sure you have one they fully stand behind, and have engineered from the ground up to integrate with the Xbox cooling system.

These are all NVME m.2 PCIE 4.0 drives. I just checked, the Samsung 1TB drive of comparable performance retails for $10 more than the Xbox card.

Purchasing a 1TB drive od the class inside Xbox Series a consoles will run you around $200 at retail. A 1TB platter drive that came in the X1X can be purchased for around $50

There is an extreme difference in performance between these drives to say the least, but performance costs money.

You can buy a USB platter drive that holds multiple terabytes, and move the games you’re not playing from the internal storage, or you can purchase expansion cards that will equal the performance of the internal drive, but will still run you in the neighborhood of $200. Moving them in and out is the cheapest solution for you

    those dont work terriztfic

you gotta remember not all drives are going to be white listed

and you cant dump any drive in it

it has to be single sided and have a single sided compatible heatsink that fits in the no more then 8mm

right now no drive is less then 200 bucks

and the ones rated for ps5 isnt nonames

seagate sansomething and wd and corsair are the only ones approved yet or promised to be approved

alot of no names have been rejected because of inconsistent read speeds

a Heat sink is a must because of sonys lack of cooling and space

and blazing use of the nvme m.2

you can google the ps5 nvme guide it isnt going to be cheap

i wouldnt rely on noname brands till a more thorough list comes out it could be months and there is no offical list yet publically available since its a closed beta atm

only the wd black and seagates are supported by system architechture boss at sony

you should note that manufacturers that want to be approved must send samples to sony for white listing and testing

even then they may not pass

just because of their rating it MUST have the heatsink and consistent read/write speed sony is looking for

    lol your joking right.

where are you shopping, you can get 1tb pcie 4 with read and write speeds of 6000 plus for cheaper now.

209.99 GBP for the expansion card from most retail outlets haha. with an average transfer rate of 2400 haha, how is that quick lol.

for 20 GBP more than the expansion card you can get a 2tb with double the performance haha.
