    SSD for xbox one x

I am looking to replace the internal hard drive in my Xbox one x with a smaller SSD for faster boot times and a few most used games. then i will have a RAID 0 hard drive array for mass storage through USB 3.0. I am having a problem cloning the operating
system to a smaller SSD, I don't want to buy a 1TB SSD I would like to use my 256GB 850 EVO. does anyone have any advice for this? I feel that this would help many people who want faster storage.

    :)

SSD drive on XBOX One X

I have the same problem. The xbox one x finds the SSD and I can see in the games & apps menu that a big part of the SSD is full of data, but the games doesn't show.

In addition to this, the wireless network connection stops working when I hook the SSD up with one or the other of the USB ports in the back of the xbox one x.

It works just fine on my old xbox one.

They did some tests and playing from an SSD did help but this was back in the Xbox One days, since the X was released this game runs far better on it but still not perfect and never will be.

Self repair is a violation of the terms of service and cannot be discussed on the forums.

    • Use unauthorized hardware or software

Using a different internal hard drive than the one that comes with the console would be unauthorized hardware. The console is not meant to be opened up and worked on my anyone other than Microsoft. So you would be putting your console at risk for being banned.

including those that prevent you from accessing the Xbox Services, using unauthorised Xbox games or Xbox apps, or using
unauthorised hardware peripheral devices with an Xbox console.
A peripheral device is an internal or external device that connects directly to a computer
but does not contribute to the computer's primary function, such as computing. It helps end users access and use the functionalities of a computer.

    -"What Is A Peripheral Device? - Definition From Techopedia." Techopedia.com. N. p., 2017. Web. 5 Dec. 2017.

I would say that a boot device is an important part of computing. I don't know how much you know about computer design, but i am a computer engineering student, and you cant do any form of computation without a kernel from a boot device.

this does NOT violate any terms of service. an SSD would not affect gameplay, it is not cheating, it is an attempt to speed up the boot time of a console that I bought. I understand that this voids the warranty, and rightfully so.

    It's tampering. Period.

Do so at your own peril.

  11. Microsoft does not allow internal modifications to their consoles. Doing so risks a console ban, effectively turning your $500 console into an offline paperweight. For all we know, XBL may keep a hardware ID logged every time you turn it on and connect it
to Xbox Live. If any hardware differs from any released retail configuration, it's going to raise red flags.

As you've already read by the other posters, the forums will not be able to provide support on this kind of material since self-repair steps are against the rules here.

Personally, I don't find the trouble of voiding the console's warranty to swap a drive worth the effort. The Xbox One X takes about a minute to boot cold, and you can leave it in "Instant-On" mode to let it immediately wake from sleep. Just slap the SSD into
a USB 3.0 enclosure, and rotate your favorite games on there. The load times in games are noticeably shorter, but it's not especially stellar (it depends on the game). I'm using a spare 256GB Samsung SSD as an external game drive, with a 4TB external as extra
    storage on my One X.

That being said, proceed at your own risk if you choose to ignore what everybody's telling you.

Which Xbox was the first to come with SSD?

An Xbox One model had a hybrid hard drive/SSD. Now currently the Xbox Series X|S only has a SSD drive in it.

    Xbox one X

Hi. No there wasn't a Xbox One X with a internal SSD built in. You can buy an external SSD to use if you choose.

Will the Xbox Series X be able to use my external SSD

An SSD provides more storage space not memory and yes you will be able to use it to store Xbox One and games for Xbox 360. Xbox Series X games are required to be on the internal SSD storage or the add on 1TB SSD storage that plugs into the unit.
