just Read a 56 page PDF file of rumored MS strategies and next box info.

SSD will probably be too expensive. chances are there will be an internal SSD though. with external hard drives for data and such like for 360.

Rise of the Tomb Raider only starts with DLC installed, if console is switched offline.

If anyone is interested, we managed to find that the problem only occurs if the game is installed on an external ssd.

If the game is moved from the ssd to the internal hdd the problem does not occur. Formating the ssd and moving the game back did not fix the problem. Other games launch fine from the external ssd.

The problem seems to be linked to (external?) ssds and (Rise of the Tomb Raider?) DLCs.

No, SSD's saturate USB 3.0 easily therefore you wont notice its benefits.

I've had this drive bookmarked for purchase whenever I need the extra space.

Just get that and a 3.0 enclosure and your all set!

The USB 3.0 is capable of transferring data at up to 5 Gbit/s (625 MB/s), which is more than ten times as fast as the 480 Mbit/s (60 MB/s) high speed of USB 2.0. Transcend 1 TB USB 3.0 External Solid State Drive is marketed to having read and write speeds
of up to 410MB/s and 380MB/s respectively. Sound Transcend 1 TB USB 3.0 External Solid State Drive read and write speed is still below of USB 3.0 max capability.

Here are some data of comparing 5 different drives that I found. The internal Xbox One 500 GB hard drive, a 2 TB 5400 RPM hard drive, a 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive, a 1 TB SHHD Hybrid drive, and a 512 GB SSD. It tested to see how many seconds it takes to boot
up COD Ghost and Thief, and load 2 COD Ghost campaign level by using each drives. The SSD seem pretty impressive especially with COD Ghost initial start up load.

I don't think it's worth it. Not until SSDs get bigger and the prices come down even more anyway. COD: Ghosts is the game that seems to offer the best initial loading time improvement when you use an external, but the difference between a regular HDD and
an SSD is only 2-3 seconds. You could buy a 4TB external for considerably less money than a 1TB SSD and still see a decent improvement in load times, so that's what I would do.

I originally bought a 1TB 7,200 RPM external and I soon regretted it, just because I was filling it up so quickly. I ended up selling it to a friend and getting a 4TB instead.

    Hi guys,

Want to add little more space to my xbox one hdd, will a 256gb ssd work with a usb3 enclosure?

basically want to put more of my regular games that i play there for quick loads & off course reliability a no spinning parts..

People are actually considering spending huge amount of money foe small SSD hard drives so they gain a couple of seconds loading a game? really?

Wouldn't it just be better to buy a really big 7200rpm drive and be done with it? as the post above shows a good 7200rpm drive is much quicker than the stock one, and only marginally slower than a much smaller SSD.

I suppose people can spend what they want, their money after all, but for me, I would rather have a 2TB hard drive than a 500Gig SSD.

    SSD for External Drive?

Considering that most normal hdd's that are of good manufacture and have a reliable family, and this is excluding the chances of failure which in reality is low, a normal hdd will outlive an ssd, I would personally wait until ssd's are manufactured bigger,
more reliable and come down in price, you can get 2x2tb hdd's for the price of ssd at the equivalent size, therefore makes more sense.

A SSD will last way longer than a HD. Considering that your Xbox isn't exactly a pc computer, the lack of rewriting files will mean that a SSD will pretty much last forever on your Xbox One. Its already known that the SSD is a lot more reliable then the
moving parts HD, the problem now is being able to mass produce them to lower their cost.

A 256 GB enclose SSD should work.

An SSD may last longer than a HDD on the Xbox One, but I'd say that most people want to expand the storage space and hopefully not have to do it again any time soon. I originally bought a 1TB external, but I soon realised that was a mistake and got a 4TB
instead. If someone has filled up the 400+ GB of space on their internal drive so they're looking to expand that, then buying a 256GB SSD isn't a great idea as it'll be filled up in no time.
