The SSD may be soldered on the ps5 but it is 100% replacable. Sony did not go out of their way to create an encrypted partition on the SSD locked to the console. So when it dies your xbox becomes a 500$ paperweight.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand your concern regarding the SSD failure on the Xbox Series X and the inability to replace it. However, please note that the SSD on the Xbox Series X is not user-replaceable, and any attempt to do so may void the warranty.

In the event of an SSD failure, we recommend that you contact Xbox Support for assistance. Our support team will be able to provide you with the necessary steps to resolve the issue.

We appreciate your feedback and will pass it along to our product team for consideration. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

It should.be noted that a software fix will.never fix hardware failure

    Everything.falls.unders.the.laws.of. physics.

You can't even replace the custom ps5 nvme as it's soldered on

The external slot.is not fully9 gbps as it's locked at 4.5gbps

Unless you are reading a lot which you shouldn't be even hdds have limited life spans

Since you are talking about 5-7 years later maybe you should. buy extra warranty to help your worries.

Any physical media including hdds and.sad.and.nvme.have a finite amount.of.read and writes

If you want user replacablr storage maybe consoles aren't for.you

Only steam.deck and ally allow self.repair with ms only doing it on accessories.

Nintendo nor sony allow self.repair on system.storage

Pre download Xbox Series X games

    Not really...

Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

    As an example...

I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

Try recording directly to the Xbox Series X internal SSD, to see if the same issue happens, please.

Which Xbox was the first to come with SSD?

An Xbox One model had a hybrid hard drive/SSD. Now currently the Xbox Series X|S only has a SSD drive in it.
