SSD externe 1TB non reconnu par Xbox One X

    Hi everyone,

I just bought an external SSD Samsung QVO 860 1TB and an external USB 3.0 adapter.

I plugged it on my PC, formated it in NTFS and everything work Juste fine. It's recognized by PC, Nas, PlayStation 4 and even my TV.

The issue is that nothing happens when I plug it on my Xbox One X. The drive is not detected. I tried all the ports but back on my PC it's fine.

So now, the only peripheral that can't find the SSD is My One X.... I'm desperate.

Did someone had the same problem? That's frustrating I swear.... Xbox One X isn't designed for external SSD??

Thank you in advance for your answers!

    :)

SSD externe 1TB non reconnu par Xbox One X

    Hi,

    Thank you for your answer.

I tried every instructions you gave me and... Not working!

That's crazy because it works on my PC and other peripherals but my One X doesn't want to hear about the SSD...

I plug it and nothing happens. Right aftet I plug directly a 2Tb "normal" HDD and it's working same with a 64Go USB 3.0 key...

My NTFS, properly formatted SSD, all instructions followed is still not recognized by the Xbox but works on all other peripherals... That's just insane!!

If you have an idea, don't hesitate please! Thank you very much!

Maybe the SSD is just no compatible with the One X? Can this be possible??
    Hi,

I can't see how it could be. I've seen the later version of this SATA SSD the QVO 870 running on an Xbox One X and a Series X. The 870 has slightly faster NAND Flash and newer controller chip, but that's it. There is no reason I can see why your drive is
not detected. Sounds like the format isn't correct.

How did you format your drive?

When I format drives I do it via Windows 10 Disk Management. You can get there quickly by right clicking on the Windows Start button and selected Disk Management from the list.

    • Find your dive in the list
    • Right click on the drive and select Format
    • Make sure NTFS is selected (by default there shouldn't be any other option then NTFS)
    • This time, click on the in unit allocation size drop down and select
      4096
(this should be the default, but select this to be sure)
    • Make sure there is a tick in the Quick Format box

Click OK to format your drive again. When it's done - which should be in a few seconds - plug it back in to your console and try again. Making sure to eject it in Windows before you disconnect the drive.

Let us know if this worked.

    Hi,

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, I formated it in NTFS right now and it's still not showing up on the One X.

That's weird. It's working great on my PC... I wasn't lucky with my purchase.

Maybe the SSD is just no compatible with the One X? Can this be possible??

Ifs its recognized on the playstation or tv then you didnt do it right

Ntfs cannot be used on a ps4 the only thing ps 4 recognizes is a exfat or fat 32

    This includes tvs

Its an pc only format that is also used on xbox

    Exfat doesnt require special drivers

XBox Series X - Additional Storage

The only 2 options right now are the Seagate cards, which come in 512GB, 1TB or 2TB sizes, and the Western Digital WD_Black C50 cards, which come in 512GB or 1TB sizes.

When it comes to external HDDs and SSDs, you can store any game on one, but whether the game will run from one depends on if it's optimised for the Series X/S or not. If it is, it will only run from the internal SSD or one of the expansion cards. If it's not, it will run from the external drive. Obviously, pretty much all new games are gonna be optimised for the X/S consoles.
