    SSD defective

I have 8 games installed on my Xbox Series X. I tried to install another and I got the message not enough room. I checked my SSD and it said that 81.7% of my drive was used up. How can this be with only 8 games? Naturally, this happened a week after my warranty ran out.

    :)

Is Xbox series X/S internal SSD flaw will be solved in the future ?

Thank you for your reply !

I'm well aware of how SSDs live and die.

Also SSDs on xbox can also have sudden death from structural shock or manufacturing defect.

However I don't think you're grasping the concept of my post.

In simpler word, when SSD dies on Xbox console, then the console is gone for good ! because motherboard is tied to one and only original SSD that came with it in first place. No SSD replacement is possible, which got me concerned.

That no rumor it is fact, the technician that repairs consoles who neighboring me has received his first Xbox series X with dead SSD, he came into conclusion that the console has literally no further use.

How can I select which drive I want to play a game from if it's on both my internal xbox drive and my external ssd drive?

...every couple months PubG stops running from the SSD drive for some reason. I get an error (seems to be an in-game error) that says PubG took too long to start, then it closes and goes back to the dashboard. ....
Usually, the message "[Game/App] took too long to start" is a Xbox system error, not a Game internal error.

Usually that is resolved by launching the game again. If that doesn't help, restart your console, so it shows you a green boot screen.

However, if that doesn't resolve the issue, I might suspect that your SSD is becoming corrupt.

When the game can't start from the SSD, because a few flash cells broke, and you are able to copy the game over from the internal drive, the controller of the SSD will store the "new" copy on different storage cells for "wear
    levling
    ".

So if the error really happens multiple times, I'd suggest you take a diagnostic utility from the SSD maker and test the SSD. And if it shows defects, have the SSD replaced (if it's within warranty, have the manufacturer replace it).

Xbox Series X games installed to external SSD expansion card causing console to hard crash installing games.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your Xbox Series X when installing or updating games to an external SSD expansion card. You mentioned that the console freezes or hard crashes when you try to install or update games, but only when using the SSD expansion card. When you remove the SSD card, the console works fine. However, when you try to install DLC on the internal hard drive, the console still freezes and shuts off after a few minutes.

This issue could be related to a compatibility problem between the Xbox Series X and the SSD expansion card. It is possible that the card is not fully compatible with the console or that there is an issue with the card itself. You may want to try using a different brand or model of SSD expansion card to see if the issue persists.

Another possibility is that the SSD expansion card may be defective or damaged. If this is the case, you may need to contact the manufacturer or retailer to arrange for a replacement or repair.

In any case, it may be helpful to check for any firmware updates or other software updates for the Xbox Series X or the SSD expansion card to ensure that you are using the most up-to-date and compatible versions. You may also want to try contacting Xbox support for further assistance in resolving the issue.

There is only one model and one manufacturer of the expansion card for the Series consoles. There is no other brand or model to try.
