Ssd can’t store games only media

I'm not in the US either - Australia here. So I think this is a global issue based off of the Series X update in late August breaking the console's ability to read/write media to SSDs in general.

It seems like it doesn't matter about the user's brand of SSD. Whatever changed in the August update, using SSDs for installing games still works, using SSDs for recording game clips, storing media and viewing it on the console doesn't.

From what I've read, recording game clips to SSDs means the Xbox needs to be able to use them as external media storage.

Because the update on the 23rd of August broke SSDs as media storage devices for Xbox consoles, that'd be why your game clips aren't being recorded.

I'd recommend submitting this as feedback through the 'Report a Problem' app (either installed on your Xbox, or available on the Microsoft Store if you don't have it). That seems to be the way that Xbox developers can best get information to work on a fix to the issue

SSD's are comming down in price and the speed is way faster. My PC loads in 11 seconds. I find that when you raid them its cheaper as well. I only store me OS and program files on my SSD's all documents, media, etc are relocated to my WD Velociraptor. I
actually moved the targets to my other drive. That way my SSD is lean and mean. The read write and file transfers are amazingly fast. I have Intels Cherryville series SSD's. Intel makes the best silicon so that's where I put my money.

Thanks. But when I plug the SSD into the Xbox, it shows that an external HDD has been inserted. When I open the setup and go to storage, I can't format it. The Xbox is up-to-date. The SSD is in perfect working condition. I tried everything: 1) I quickly and regularly formatted the disk in a Windows 11 PC, using both xFat and NTFS; 2) I also deleted the partition to see if something happened when connecting the SSD in the XBox; 3) I also tried to create the partition without formatting it and connecting the SSD in the XBox; 4) I connected the SSD in every single USB port of the XBox. But it never gives me the chance to format it. It always shows that the disk can be used for storing media only.
