In the USB Root Hub Power Management options the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option is unflagged.
Here are the steps:

• Disable the USB selective suspend setting:
  • Click Start, click Control Panel.
  • Click the Hardware and Sound tab.
  • In Devices and Printers click Device Manager.
  • Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers node, and then, for each USB Root Hub node, do the following:
    • Right-click USB Root Hub.
    • Click the Power Management tab, uncheck the ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ checkbox, and then click OK.

I was also wondering the same thing I have medical issues and I really Like the Kinect Idea But for me to just have a Really Nice Video Chat Hardware I am wondering if I would Like to use it or not? and all the new Software that are becoming available as
well will make it a Nice "Tool" But some help with Medical Handicaps to use the Kinect would also be a BIG Plus we Love gaming Too!

I believe kinect should only be mandatory upon initial set up and agreement to the terms, Upon the purchase of and first use of a new game, and with constant connectkon if you want to use the systems online features.

Locating people who need "help" would be a very beneficial feature of such a system if it was being used for spying purposes.

@klokkwork i can't help but notice that you seem to keep the price issue out of your post do you work for msft, also the kinect has no games worth playing and voice controls don't always work and the controls for games don't always work like for fighter
within or so i've heard it is still clunky, i like the idea for health and research purposes but shoving it down the throats of their customers(us) no they should sell the rights of kinect to medical researchers and spend the money for games and games studios
