    Click on the silver guide button in the middle of your controller

    Go two clicks to the right and choose Settings then System Settings and Network Settings

    Pick your connection and then run the Test Xbox Live Connection test.

    If the problem persists, please send us the info we need from
    forums.xbox.com/.../155724.aspx     so we may work on this further.

    So, do you have another cable you could try? My guess is that the cable might have worn through near the plug (the most vulnerable spot).
