Spotify Xbox One Memory Lag

I have seen multiple threads of this dating back to 2017 and most are closed "Resolved" with no actual resolutions, so here goes...

Using Spotify causes my Xbox to become unresponsive. By unresponsive I mean the following behavior:

After launching/attempting to launch Spotify, overall responsiveness of the Xbox suffers when I attempt to open the Xbox menu. I can't shut down the console because button inputs don't register and block me from selecting Shut Down. I literally have to pull the plug from the console now.

In the last if I tried to open a playlist of my music within Spotify, the app crashes.

When I'm playing a game and I run Spotify, the game gives me an error staying it was unable to access my sabe data.

I have since uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify, amd I am now unable to launch the app (see attached screenshots)

This was not an issue a year ago.

All signs point to either:

An unaddressed bug likely in the form of a memory leak causing Spotify to use all the Xbox's resources

An underlying architectural issue with how Spotify itself treats your music library (e.g. caches it to memory), ramping up as it goes, eventually (you guessed it) using all the Xbox's resources.

I only suspect the latter as a possible issue because Spotify will allow me to listen to music on the mobile app on my phone while I have no internet connectivity, which means it has cached locally to my device. It's entirely possible the amount of local memory the app has configured to utilize for Xbox is completely different than mobile.

I don't have high hopes Spotify or Microsoft will address this at any point in the future, but it's basically rentered Spotify on my Xbox useless.

For the sake of thoroughness, yes I have tried all the following troubleshooting steps:

Power cycling the Xbox, including disconnecting all power from the Xbox completely

Disconnecting/reconnecting to the internet

Rebooting my internet

Uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify

Running Spotify on its own without a game

If anyone from Spotify or Microsoft reading this wants to reach out, I'd be happy to share my credentials and additional console info to help investigate this in Prod.

I am on Spotify 2.26.35.70.

Hi Danny! Sorry to hear about the issue. Let's do our best here to get this sorted out.

If it's only the Spotify app causing you this issue, most likely it's an app bug or stability issue on the app.

The best option I have here as our troubleshooting steps is to perform a factory reset. That is to remove potentially corrupted data on the console system and somehow fix any bug. There's an option to keep your games and apps first but as a last resort, you may consider to remove everything instead.
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

Download Spotify from the Microsoft Store on your Xbox One.
Log in one of these three ways to play:
- With
  Spotify Connect.
- With your Spotify email address and password.
  
  Note: If you usually log in with Facebook, use Spotify Connect to log in instead.
- Select LOG IN WITH PIN. Then, on your phone or computer, go to
  www.spotify.com/pair and enter the pin you see on your screen.

Hi Drewdude, is this still happening to you? If so, what are your settings on the console's audio settings page? Are you listening to music with speakers or headphones?

Did it auto sign you out of the xbox one spotify app even though the day before everything worked great, then you try to sign in with the correct email and password but it still says invalid email or password? This happened to me awhile back. I had to
go to the spotify page on my tablet and reset the spotify password. Now the xbox one version works fine.
