    Spotify

I think Spotify have some deal with PlayStation, so they can't or won't make an app for Xbox One right now. Spoticast is an unofficial app, it doesn't play the music from Spotify, it searches for the songs in your Spotify account on YouTube and plays them
from there. So you don't actually need Spotify Premium to use Spoticast at all.

If you have a Windows laptop or PC that you can use, the Stream What You Hear app lets you stream sound from your PC to Groove Music on your Xbox, so with that switched on you can play music from Spotify and hear it on your Xbox. This has a slight delay
but since it's just music that doesn't matter too much.

[Guide] Getting Started with Spotify on Xbox One

As of 8th August 2017, the Spotify app is now available on Xbox One!

This guide should answer some of the likely questions around using the app for the first time, but if you need more help take a look at

    this FAQ
or the links at the bottom of this thread so you can get the assistance you need.

    Spotify App Features

    • Browse your own created playlists, or take a look at the available selection of curated playlists
    • Search for any song, artist or album in the Spotify library
    • Background listening! Continue listening to Spotify even while you play a game
    • Use Spotify Connect to control music playback from other supported devices, including phones and laptops
    • App works with both Free and Premium Spotify subscriptions
    • Xbox Live Gold subscription not required

    Installing the Spotify App

    • On your Xbox One console, navigate to the Store tab
    • Under the large banners, press the Search button
    • Type "Spotify" and press Menu (button with three horizontal lines)
    • In the results, select "Spotify Music - for Xbox"
    • Press Install

Logging In to the Spotify App

Now that you have the Spotify app installed, you probably want to log in. There are a couple options for this: the first is to log in using Spotify Connect on another device, essentially using the other device to authenticate your login; and the second is
    to use a normal password.

Note: If you do not already have a Spotify account, you can create one from this screen.

    • Logging in with Spotify Connect
      • This is the easiest way to log in to Spotify, and it means you'll already be set up to use Spotify Connect.
      • Open the Spotify app on another device where you are already logged in – a mobile or laptop device running iOS, Android, Windows 10 – and make sure it is connected to the same home/WiFi network as your Xbox One.
      • Open the Spotify app on Xbox One and select "Log In".
      • Follow the steps presented on the screen.
    • Logging in with Username and Password
      • Open the Spotify app on Xbox One and select "Log In".
      • After selecting "Log In", most of the screen is dedicated to Spotify Connect; to use username and password, you will need to navigate to "Other Ways to Log In" on the far right side of the screen.
      • Select "Password".
      • Input your account password and you are now logged in to the Spotify app.
    • Logging Out
      • In the app, select your profile icon in the upper-right.
      • Select "Log Out".

    Background Listening and Controlling Playback

When you have already started music playback on Xbox One, you can continue listening in the background even if you open a game and start playing. When this is happening, you can control the music in two ways: on the console, or by using Spotify Connect on
    another device.

Controlling Playback on the Console: With music playing, if you open the Guide (press central button with Xbox logo), there will be a play bar along the bottom*. You can use your controller to pause or skip songs.

Controlling Playback with Spotify Connect: While music is playing on your console, open the Spotify app on any other supported device where you're logged in and you can pause or skip songs from that device. You can even add songs to the
queue or change playlists entirely. As long as Spotify Connect is left to "Play from Xbox One", your music will continue playing from the console.

*Insiders testing the latest version of the Xbox One dashboard will see something slightly different: the play bar will still be in the Guide, but it will exist in the list of recent apps. Media controls can be accessed by clicking
A on the tile showing the artist and song currently playing. The specifics of this functionality in the new Dashboard are subject to change as the update progresses through its testing phases.

    Hi Zander,

Is this something you're still experiencing? If so, can you see the search bar and it's not working, or can you not even see the search bar?

Xbox Game Bar - Spotify Widget

    Hello Johnathan Reynolds1,

Welcome to the Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

Please ensure that your computer is completely updated, including all optional updates, and then restart your computer. Additionally, please make sure that the Xbox App and Xbox Game Bar app are updated on your PC. To do this, please launch the Microsoft Store on your computer and then select the Library icon in the bottom left. In the Library page, please select Get updates and then Update all after all of the updates have been pulled. If either app needs an update, please try to link Spotify again after the update is complete.

We also recommend that you sign out of the Xbox Game Bar and back in to see if a reauthentication of your account fixes the issue. To do this, please launch the Xbox Game Bar by pressing the Win + G keys. Next, open the Settings cog in the top overlay ribbon and select Accounts. Under the Xbox Network tab, select Sign out. Next, sign back in and see if the issue persists.

Regarding linking your Spotify account, please follow these steps to ensure that it is done correctly. Launch the Xbox Game Bar by pressing the Win + G keys. Next, open the Settings cog in the top overlay ribbon and select Accounts. Next to the Spotify icon, select Sign in and sign in with your Spotify credentials. If you have Spotify through a service, then you’ll have to sign in through that provider. For example, I have Spotify through the Hulu + Spotify student bundle - but since I have my Spotify linked to my Facebook account I had to select “Continue with Facebook” and sign in that way.

After you sign in through your correct provider, then Spotify should be successfully linked to your account, and you’ll be able to pin the Spotify widget to the Xbox Game Bar overlay.

If you are still experiencing this issue after following the suggestions above, then we recommend that you repair/reset the Xbox Game Bar. You can do this by going to Settings > Apps > Apps & features and then searching for Xbox Game Bar in the search bar. From here, click the Advanced options button on the Xbox Game Bar tile and then select Repair and Reset. After that is completed, please try to link your Spotify again.

You can also try reinstalling the Gaming Services package. To do this, please follow the steps below.

    Reinstall the Gaming Services Package

    1. Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. On the Windows PowerShell Administrator screen, type the following command, and then press Enter:
      1. Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
    3. Restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know if these suggestions help by selecting “Yes” or “No” next to “Was this response helpful?”. If this response answered your question, please select it as the “Answer”. Additionally, if there is any misunderstanding or clarification needed, please reply to this response.

    Sincerely,
