Spotify app playback problem on 5.1 av-system

    Hi,

There is problem with Spotify playback when using 5.1 setting on Xbox configuration. I have a 5.1 channel av system connected to the Xbox One via HDMI and some how Spotify stream (it's stereo sound) is encoded so that sound is heard all surround
channels too (but lower volume than main channels). When i choose 2 channel uncompressed setting from Xbox configuration the sound is now true 2 channel but higher frequencies is obviously damped (compared with same song on analog source). I tried with an
Groove app (service discontinued) for some earlier purchased offline music (.mp3?) and it working correctly and play pure stereo sound from main speakers with 5.1 settings. Is the problem in Xbox encoding algorythm or on the Spotify app?

    :)

    Help??

Try starting up music playback on your phone (Spotify app) and then open the Spotify for Xbox One app, and in the phone app click on "Devices available" and select your console. That should "send" the playback to your console and let you continue listening
    to music there.

Let us know how you get on.

[Guide] Getting Started with Spotify on Xbox One

As of 8th August 2017, the Spotify app is now available on Xbox One!

This guide should answer some of the likely questions around using the app for the first time, but if you need more help take a look at

    this FAQ
or the links at the bottom of this thread so you can get the assistance you need.

    Spotify App Features

    • Browse your own created playlists, or take a look at the available selection of curated playlists
    • Search for any song, artist or album in the Spotify library
    • Background listening! Continue listening to Spotify even while you play a game
    • Use Spotify Connect to control music playback from other supported devices, including phones and laptops
    • App works with both Free and Premium Spotify subscriptions
    • Xbox Live Gold subscription not required

    Installing the Spotify App

    • On your Xbox One console, navigate to the Store tab
    • Under the large banners, press the Search button
    • Type "Spotify" and press Menu (button with three horizontal lines)
    • In the results, select "Spotify Music - for Xbox"
    • Press Install

Logging In to the Spotify App

Now that you have the Spotify app installed, you probably want to log in. There are a couple options for this: the first is to log in using Spotify Connect on another device, essentially using the other device to authenticate your login; and the second is
    to use a normal password.

Note: If you do not already have a Spotify account, you can create one from this screen.

    • Logging in with Spotify Connect
      • This is the easiest way to log in to Spotify, and it means you'll already be set up to use Spotify Connect.
      • Open the Spotify app on another device where you are already logged in – a mobile or laptop device running iOS, Android, Windows 10 – and make sure it is connected to the same home/WiFi network as your Xbox One.
      • Open the Spotify app on Xbox One and select "Log In".
      • Follow the steps presented on the screen.
    • Logging in with Username and Password
      • Open the Spotify app on Xbox One and select "Log In".
      • After selecting "Log In", most of the screen is dedicated to Spotify Connect; to use username and password, you will need to navigate to "Other Ways to Log In" on the far right side of the screen.
      • Select "Password".
      • Input your account password and you are now logged in to the Spotify app.
    • Logging Out
      • In the app, select your profile icon in the upper-right.
      • Select "Log Out".

    Background Listening and Controlling Playback

When you have already started music playback on Xbox One, you can continue listening in the background even if you open a game and start playing. When this is happening, you can control the music in two ways: on the console, or by using Spotify Connect on
    another device.

Controlling Playback on the Console: With music playing, if you open the Guide (press central button with Xbox logo), there will be a play bar along the bottom*. You can use your controller to pause or skip songs.

Controlling Playback with Spotify Connect: While music is playing on your console, open the Spotify app on any other supported device where you're logged in and you can pause or skip songs from that device. You can even add songs to the
queue or change playlists entirely. As long as Spotify Connect is left to "Play from Xbox One", your music will continue playing from the console.

*Insiders testing the latest version of the Xbox One dashboard will see something slightly different: the play bar will still be in the Guide, but it will exist in the list of recent apps. Media controls can be accessed by clicking
A on the tile showing the artist and song currently playing. The specifics of this functionality in the new Dashboard are subject to change as the update progresses through its testing phases.

    Spotify app act weird

Hello Sabrina V, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

Third-party problems are almost always due to lack of updating.
Make sure you're using the latest version of the Spotify app on your Xbox. Updates often fix bugs and compatibility issues.

Go to the Microsoft Store on your Xbox.
Search Spotify and check if an update is available. If yes, install it.
    Check Playback Settings
Open the Spotify app on your Xbox.
Go to "Your Library" and select the podcast you want to listen to.
Before playing, check that "Play Next" or "Shuffle" is disabled. Sometimes shuffle settings can cause problems.

Also make sure you are using the correct Premium account to sign in to the Spotify app on your Xbox.
If you continue to see ads despite having a Premium account, you may need to sign out and sign back into your Spotify account in the Xbox app.

As advice, Delete Data and Cache
Go to Settings on your Xbox.
Select Storage and then Manage Storage.
    Find and select Spotify.
    Delete app data and cache.

    Best regards.

    No dialogue audio for games

That's because your AV receiver or TV cannot decipher 5.1 Uncompressed. with 5.1 uncompressed the dialogue comes through a different channel, all your AV receiver or TV will be outputting is Front Left and Front right which is all you'll hear.
