Split payments xbox360

I recently got an old xbox360 from a friend and have been slowly going back adding all my old previously purchased arcade games.

I am wanting to purchase some dlc and want to confirm if using a split payment method will work. I want to make a 14.99 purchase. I have 15.91 in my Microsoft account. I have my credit card already saved but when I try to use the account balance, it gives
an error. I assumed I need to start with the account balance and then top it off with my credit card. I just want to be sure that in starting with my credit card as the payment option, it will still allow me to use the account balance also.

I want this dlc but just don't want to pay 15 bucks for it right now.

A split payment should work, but you have to start with the account balance first and then it will ask how you want to pay for the rest and then it'll go for the credit card.

They are doing it from a 360 console, as stated in the original post.

This is what I thought also. I tried starting with the account balance but that gives an error stating there isn't enough funds.

Have you tried adding your credit card to Paypal, and continue that way? I know the
ugh feeling of chomping into credit card balances.. If you want to watch the pennies/cents, consider a pre paid gift card code from a reputable retailer. We can get them over the counter via a till receipt from £5 here in the UK, might be worth asking
your local store if they sell ones for $5.
