  1. Spiking bandwidth usage

Ever since the Xbox One update on Nov. 12 the bandwidth usage on my console keeps spiking. It goes from zero or almost no usage to eating up half my bandwidth or more. It happens when I'm sitting at the dashboard and when I am playing games (and I mean
solo games like Fallout 4 or Witcher 3, not online ones). There shouldn't be any usage, but it just starts going at what seems like random times. It's getting kind of annoying because it keeps booting my brother from games he is playing online on his PC.
Is anyone else out there having this problem and is there some sort of solution to it?

    :)

    Bandwidth usage

Since the update where in the network settings you can view the bandwidth usage on you xbox for a month to 12 hours. I see last month my xbox's used 119.56gb. That's alot. I can't believe it used that much in a month. It doesn't bother me because I have
unlimited but dang that's alot. Anybody else notice this?

  4. Spiking bandwidth usage

I am having the same issue. I have an external hard drive attached to my One, and after 5 minutes of the console being turned on, my HHD indicator lights solid, my entire internet is maxed out by the One, and live TV becomes pretty much unwatchable due to
    severe stutter.

What I believe is happening (and this REALLY better not be the case) is that Microsoft is using our consoles in a peer-to-peer configuration for updates instead of their servers. That would explain the extremely high bandwidth usage that is unrelated to
a game download/update as well as the constant storage access.

As soon as I remove the power cable from my external drive, my bandwidth magically goes back to normal and TV becomes watchable again.

Same issue here I have the Elite Console with the 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive and have 8TB of external hard drives hocked up. But removing the drives from the console on my end it still shows high usage. I can't vouch for the TV because I don't use that
function. I do have a good plan and I am not worried about hitting the cap but people with a lower tire and play a lot online this could significantly hurt their cap. As of typing this i'm on chat support with Xbox so if I learn anything ill update.

  6. Removing the external does not work for me either. It still wouldn't be a workable solution even if it did fix the issue given that most of my games are loaded on the external. Hopefully support will be able to explain what exactly is happening.

Yes I completely agree you should you. People should not have to remove external storage to solve the problem as for you KodokuTraveller and me removing dose not help with this issue. When I contacted support they were not able to give me a answer over the
chat, but the person I was chatting with was very understanding.

They took a lot of info about the issue a such as "How did much it use before the update and if you had noticed before." they even took the the OS number. I don't know if you or [Soviet Messiah] have the exact same problem. What I noticed if i played Fallout
4 for eight hours when look at the Bandwidth Manger it usually for me has two major spikes one about three hours into playing and the again about six hours into playing. It has added up to around 1GB daily if I only play a single player game that day. That
is a total of 30GB-35GB for a month of data I have no idea what it is doing with the data. They told me that they will update me by email with anything they find. So ill keep you guys up to date on what they tell me. Lets hope for the best that it is a easy
    fix for Xbox.

  8. Spiking bandwidth usage

My issue is almost identical. I've also been playing Fallout 4 a bunch recently and the usage spikes about every 3 to 4 hours. For the other hours there is very little usage (normally a few MB at most), and then during that hour block there is a usage
of normally 300 MB or more.

Thanks for keeping me updated Mesowhite1.

Forgot to do this but I just posted the issue on Xbox Feedback. The person with Xbox Support suggested me to do this as well. So if you want to vote for it here is the link :

    xbox.uservoice.com/.../10821597-spiking-bandwidth-usage

More votes the better chance it gets noticed by more people who might have the same issue.

No problem KodokuTraveller, I want this fixed as much as you do, it also can help others who might not realize that they have the same issue before having there Internet throttled, or receive a large bill because they when over their cap. Cheers
