Rand.... I know at lest 10 people who used the original kinect... had kids that used it and LOVED IT and was a main piece of their family interactions... just because the majority of people in this forum sit on their *** all day wanting to shoot things and
complain about anything and everything... I am sure of those 24 millions sales... a SMALL majority of those have the same view as you.. hell... even if HALF hated it.. that is still 12 million.. and those are UNITS not people.. a single house hold of 5 might
have 3 that really loved the Kinect...

i only played a few Kinect games on the 360, it just wasn't for me, but i really like how they used it in Dead Rising 3 because for me it actually did enhance the gameplay, calling bosses crazy and shaking the controller to knock off zombies, that is what
i want to see more of.

other than that, the IR blaster alone was worth it for me, the Kinect works better for the basic commands than my Logitech Harmony Link that i paid $100 for it about 3 years ago.

i hope they keep the Kinect, i hope we see more games that require the Kinect and not as a "Kinect game", but primarily focused on controller gameplay and enhanced with Kinect.

You're part of the "all in one media device" crowd that Microsoft is going after. The Kinect works (for the most part) for your needs and enhances the experience. You have people like me that simply use it as a gaming console and the other features aren't
    a system seller for me.

From a business stand point who is Microsoft better offer trying to cater to? I personally think the "gamer" crowd will put more money in their pockets than the "all in one" crowd. If I use my console for gaming 100 percent of the time, I'm buying more games.
The person using it for apps, Hulu, Netflix, etc is spending a huge amount of time doing something other than gaming that doesn't generate income for Microsoft.

  5. I don't care if games are ever made better by Kinect. I want to see the basic functions improved. I love my Minority Report style menu browsing- It's really cool! I love the voice commands. They're cool! I want to see these features expanded on. If games
want to effectively use Kinect, I'm all for it. But that's not my primary interest in it.

  6. I never understood the argument about the Kinect being packaged in would lead to better utilization. The Wii barely used it's own controls and some best and most successful games barely used its function. I swear people are delusional.

    @Fatal

That'll be the question, How many people are willing to spend the extra money to do that?

Amazon Fire TV has voice commands at 100 bucks, even plays app games, even has a controller. How many of the "all in one" crowd take the less costly options. There is far to much competition in that market and the Ones price point is a huge negative for
    them.

Like I said in one of the previous Kinect threads, I'm not interested in playing Kinect-only games. If the Kinect was not bundled with the Xbox One I would have never brought one, but I'm glad Microsoft "forced" me to because
I love the damn thing. I don't think there will be a Kinect-only game that will impress me, but would love to play a game like Dying Light with the controller and Kinect; If you make a noise the Kinect will pick that up and if zombies are close by they will
also hear it and come after your brains Spencer: Dropping Kinect not number one request; ;) I remember reading an article about this ages ago.

You cannot please everyone all of the time which is why they changed their mind on making the Kinect mandatory for system functionality. The price will (and already has) drop. Once they drop it to what competition is charging I think there will be a sharp
increase in sales. If I was the ad guy in charge of creating the campaign to to sell the cheaper Xbox One I would emphasize the "You don't have to use it" aspect of the Kinect. Even then people will complain "Why is it $400 and not $300 w/o the Kinect?" Like
I said you cannot please everyone all of the time.

  10. I agree with Lol At Ur Skill. We just want some decent games which I think is happening anyway. I don't want games that I cant play years later that rely on "the Cloud" today. There is way too much riding on this console. Just bring the games on already.

The Kinect came with my X1.. so be it. I use it for Skype, fiddle around with hand controls/voice commands... that's it so far. Meh... whatever..... Was it a selling factor for me; nope. Just added hardware that sits relatively idle on my TV stand. I
feel it has potential for the future.... patience is a virtue ... right???

The problem with releasing an Xbox One SKU without Kinect is that your instantly splitting the user base between those with and those without.

What then does a developer do, does he code a game to use Kinect in some way, or does he leave it?

Kind of pointless coding a game to somehow use Kinect (like Forza 5, Battlefield 4 etc do) if only some of the Xbox User base will use it.

And thats the problem, if Microsoft were to release a SKU without Kinect developers WILL stop developing for it.

Look at the Xbox 360, only a handfull of games actually require a hard drive, because devlopers couldnt guarantee that everybody had a hard drive connected to their console.
