Spellsword - Skill and attribute advice

When working Destrution magic, get the best shok spells you an, and perks in Destruction that help that. A solid shok spell is the best defense on any magic using enemy, while a frost spelll is more effective in slowing down the more intense melee opponants.

Get your enchanting up so you can ad magic boosting armor elements.

I only really use Alteration for candlelight. Illusion for invisibility and Restoration for healing and wards.

 

I still like the idea of using a paralyze spell as opposed to a poison. I don't intend to use bows at all if I can help it. Having it ranged, and having an unlimited supply seems extremely useful. That, and of course the magic resistance. I've never actually
crafted armor or enchanted before... ever. Never been a need, as I was always stealthy and ranged. If it could catch me, I deserved to die

 

I use the mage light sometimes. Try throwing that little light down through a cave ahead of you and then get your sword or bow out. The effect of the little light sticking to the wall at the end of the proverbial tunnel is really a lot of fun. I never did
get what was so curious about that light but bad guys and Draugr all seem to flock to it.

 

It always amused me that a brief bit of invisibility used to scatter skeletons and daedra in Morrowind. I don't think I have tried that in Skyrim, I should. Maybe magelight and invisibility, hmm?

Angelus, in ESO, can you give potions to anyone else, NPC or friendly player? I was curious about whether a healer could use potions as well as magic. I was thinking that a party without a mage or healer would still be better served by someone who acted
as healer so the fighters don't have to think about it and sometimes a potion is just faster.

 

An interesting idea, my biggest issue to date is crowd control... another way to scatter the herd would be a bonus

If playing as an Altmer, never forget your 'Highborn' racial power, but when you do use it, wait 24 hours as soon as you are in a safe position to do so. That way it's available for use again as soon as needed.

 

I never use wait, call it a personal rule. That along with fast travel (carriages are fine). I find both methods of making the game progress faster take away a lot from my experience. I make good use of the ability though, as it played a part in my choice
of which race to try. Never made an Altmer, am quite satisfied with him though, despite the fact most high elves are pompus jerks.

My Skyrim main character is a Altmer and I have got use to him now. Took awhile to get comfortable with him though.

 

I'm sure you know that not all Nords are jerks, oops, not all Altmer are jerks it's just the way they are written. And not all Dunmer are snooty thieves even if they are written that way. It's all in how you play them.

 

@lady I think in the heat of battle you can heal with spells but can't "toss" someone a potion, I don't see how that could work well if you have a TON of potions and having to go through them to give to a fellow player. It might be easier on computers versus
consoles, so its still to be seen.

 

I like the way potions are handled in other games. Of course, Skyrim would have been easier if the potions all could be named by the player or were uniform or some such way to keep them organized.

 

I rarely remember to use my potions but your both right. It would have been a bit nicer if we could name them or keep them in some easier order. If our followers would just use what we give them it would be nice to, most of them don't ever use what I give
them. I've even tried dropping them and letting them pick the potion up. Didn't seem to do anything.
