Why does my xbox limit my download speed compared to doing a speedtest on a laptop. According to xbox one speedtest I only get about half the download speed I get on a laptop both of these are wired

If I do a speedtest on x1 I only get half the speed I get on a computer even if I pick a location that gives me the same latency.

Example on computer I get 88 down picking a server in Seattle while on x1 I only get 40 down, anyone know why the xbox sometimes but not always drops my connection speed. Both x1 and computer are wired with new ether net cables.

  3. Xbox one speedtest?

    I had the same issue

But like others say we are being pinged to Seattle US....

I was told that there is a data centre in Sandyford, Dublin... 5mns from me so no connection worries for me lol

My connection is 200Mbps but i was only getting 50 from XB1... I never had lag or connection issues since i got my XB1...

So i wouldnt worry about it if your connection is fine while gaming online

So there could be many variables to why you are getting diff download speeds.

    1. The ping location could vary. Such as the ping test could ping your local provider area. Ex. If you are using Time Warner in the carolinas, it would ping to a carolina server compared to another server microsoft is using.

    2. If your laptop is using 2.4Ghz SSID on your router and your xbox is using 5ghz or vice versa.

    3. You could also put a QOS on your router that puts your xbox on a higher priority.

If you need further explanation please let me know.

Did you actually read my post xbox is reading at half the connection speed of laptop and both are hard wired so the 2.4/5 ghz said doesn't make any difference as that is only wireless

Use speedtest.net and pick a server in Settle so I. More close to xbox servers both return the same ping time

So number 1 is a high possibility. Also have you tried a QOS on your router to raise the priority on your xbox???
