Speed tests on PC much higher than displayed usage speeds on xbox

    Hi

Im on virgin media in the UK. When i run speed tests on my phone over wireless or on my PC through wired both have a similar speed result which can vary from 25 to 70mbps.

Now when i go to my xbox settings and look at my usage bandwidth it never goes above 3 or 4mbps it seems. Which is incredibly slow. Downloads take ages. It displayed NAT type as open and the xbox is wired. If my PC and phone can get proper speeds why is
    the xbox so slow?

Does this effect my games as well? I notice games on xbox to be very unstable. Am i connecting through xbox live and then to games and p2p, as in is the xbl server being a middle man and ruining my gaming as well?

The ping to xbl is around 120....anything above 70 max in my eyes is rubbish, maybe thats just being used to PC games in the past.

So either way. Whats happening with my connection to XBL? Why isnt it picking up a similar speed to my PC and phone.

    :)

  2. Slow download speeds on Xbox One X

I'm on 120Mbit cable. Most downloads I get an actual throughput of about 15-16MB/sec.

I have a PC and my XB1X on the same LAN at home here.

I did a speed test and it showed around 70 Mbit on the Xbox One X.

I did a speedtest on my PC and it showed 120 Mbit.

It really makes downloading large games a real pain.

Why is the Xbox One X so slow on networking speeds?!?

1: YES it was the only device using the network when I did the test.

2: YES it has the latest updates

3: YES I've run the test multiple times to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

4: YES I know network speeds vary according to how much usage is occurring. I always get 120Mbit for my PC, 70Mbit for the XB1X.

    Ideas?

Current Xbox one Issues and Recommendations

9, is more likely down to the publishers servers than xbox

Someone has to ask but what internet service do you have? and what speeds are you getting from a speed test on a PC?

    Hello

The ping on your Xbox through the network tab is not an accurate representation of you actual in game ping since it tries to contact the servers in Redmond and not the nearest one.

As for your slow download, it might be that your ISP DNS does not properly function for some reason.

Could you go to your network settings and from there select
    advanced
you can then choose DNS settings. You'll be prompted to enter a
primary and secondary you can find several free ones online but the most popular is
    GoogleDNS I believe.

In the primary slot enter 8.8.8.8 in the
secondary enter 8.8.4.4 . Now you can back out and go back to the
Advanced settings and select MAC address
, you'll be asked to clear it or enter a new one. Select clear
    your Xbox will restart.

Thanks for responding. I thought i had actually already set my xbox up to do googles DNS. Though the manual input boxes were empty. Ive re applied them as my DNS just incase anyway. I'll watch it for a bit and respond if there are any improvements.

Yeah no need to wait. One look and its 30+ thanks for the help.

Maybe this will help with my gaming as well? Things like destiny are very unstable with ping speeds. Not sure if thats just because its p2p.

    Wi-Fi Speed limit???

Don't worry there isn't a speed limiter installed on the Xbox 360 for either wireless or wired connections. The simple fact is, those sites are no where near accurate. I live a long way from you - In the United Kingdom, and I get measurements from HTML5
speed testing sites that are no where near my actual speed. I've tested it from my Xbox wired and wirelessly, and from my PC which is wired.

The tests I've done state my download speed is between 4 - 9Mb/s. My actual speed is more like 60Mb/s down. I get the same slow speeds recorded by the HTML5 speed test sites that you are getting. Sometimes they report much higher, mostly not.

If you're getting slower web browsing speeds on the 360's Internet Explorer compared to your PC, this is down the console and the browser, not your connection speed. As for the marketplace, it depends on how MS have configured their network and how many users
are trying to download the same thing.

HUGE Problem - Slow Download Speeds XBox One

Thanks for info. Yes not looking for gig levels at all really. Just something better than 30 down. I really don’t believe this is an ISP issue as other devices are running at a much higher speed on my network. Everything is set up optimally for the
Xbox one on my network and it still doesn’t pull high speeds on xbox live.

As recommended by another user, ran test from Edge on xbox and speeds were great. This is an xbox live issue it appears.
