if the monitor has speakers and this is rare as most do not, then make sure under sound settings that hdmi audio is enabled and selected as stereo.

some monitors except input of sound but then only have a headphone jack on the back for output.

Yes, you can use the Xbox One/S/X with a PC monitor with a hdmi connection. bear in mind though, if the monitor does not have speakers, then you will need to use a headset for sound.

I bought an eARC HDMI, hopefully it’ll work and I’ll be able to hear the audio through my speakers. Right now I have the speakers plugged into my monitor with a audio jack and HDMI connecting my Xbox and monitor and no sound is playing.

The sound is transmitted through the HDMI cable so you may need an audio receiver in between the monitor and your Xbox. Would you mind explaining how you have the Xbox set up to your monitor and are the speakers external or internal from the monitor?

You may need to find some speakers that connect using the optical S/PDIF port in the back if your monitor does not have internal speakers.

And yes, the monitor does have speakers. The PC monitor I have switches between "PC Mode" and "HDMI-in" mode. Video works, but no sound.
