Spam over XBL Messages

Over the last few weeks, spam messages over XBL Messages has become a regular occurrence for my account. The root of the issue seems to be that XBL free accounts have the ability to message XBL paid accounts. A simple change to only allow messaging with
paid accounts would disincentivize spamming. It would become more costly to farm together accounts so spammers can always get past your latest blocked user.

i,m getting the same thing 2 messages already had 2 of those messages today from 2 different accounts there tags are [Mod removed]

 

Best bet for now is to report the messages that you receive. Then block the user.

 

Agreed, sadly all you can do for now. I'd love to be able to set blocks on messages and or friend requests, cause even back on the 360 I hated those people who send that "to all recent players" messages about crappy clans or rooms.

I seriously doubt we'll ever get anything like it though, MS seems intent on fixing and refining nothing but adding more features either no one cares about (windows 10 integration) or will use for about a week then stop.

 

Well you can set your privacy to friends only, which does help weed out unwanted messages. Or even set your account to appear offline. Not the best for some situations, but it does work.

 

Do people rally have no lives that they create a bunch of free accounts for the sole purpose of spam? Man they are a waste of humanity. Getting tired of these spam messages. I have reported and blocked...but I keep getting them because they are new free
accounts. Thank God I read that Microsoft is working on this.

 

Microsoft is releasing an update to give us better options to report these messages. What a joke. Now on top of paying every month we have to do their dirty work. What a shame

 

Hey there, xDirty RaT! In order to catch these users that are abusing the system, we need your help to report them. This is how it has been since the Xbox 360. You can currently report these messages by going into the message on your Xbox One, highlighting
it, hitting A or Menu, and selecting Report. This will give you the Message option for the reporting system.
