Spam messages

I'll check the banned/suspension forums soon for the names of the people I've reported because of all of the spam just so I can smile and then laugh at them. - GG

Unfortunately I don't think they'll care. We'll report them, MS will close the silver account and they'll simply make a new one. Only way to stop it will be to only allow Gold accounts to send messages to people not on their friends list.

Depending on the response to their spam from people who actually makes purchases through them it may be worth it for them to open Gold accounts and consider it a business expense. If it's anything like the gold spammers in MMO's you'd be surprised the number
of people that respond to them.

I think we'll see more people posting "Help I've been Hacked!" than we'll see spammers complaining about closed accounts.

 

I have not received any fifa or so spam as what others have and im on here some of the time most days a week. Maybe because im younger than most peps in this section who contribute way more than me. Theres always the option of making it so that you can only
receive msgs from friends only.

 

I would like to report these spamming users also with SmartGlass or on xbox.com. I'm just able to block the user, when I receive the spam in the SmartGlass. To report a spamming user that's only possible on the console at home. When I'm back at home, I often
forgot that I only blocked and should also report that account. This is a missing feature in SmartGlass or on xbox.com.

 

I would recommend putting in a request at the feedback site for that feature.

 

These phishing scams are annoying. I have had quite a few. As someone stated above. 0 GS, means they will just create another account and send more. I am not sure if this can be stopped. Or even slowed. The hold account idea would be a good idea.
But then you alienate the users with low income that just want to message a friend now and then.

 

I have had 2 in the last few days. Nothing that big really. No worse to me than spam emails.

 

I've received two more in the last 24 hrs and I've noticed they all use the same avatar (wizard looking dude with the white beard).

I'm wondering if they are getting our GT's from here and this is their way of messing with me for complaining.

All but one to this point has been FIFA related but also received one for a raffle last week.

 

They should start building a spam filter and give us a folder for our X1's...

 

@rand there the ones I keep getting had another today and I've set my messages to friends only but they still get through

 

They still get through!? How?

 

Can anyone confirm that setting it to friends only actually works? Maybe it's a broken setting and hasn't been noticed prior to the recent spam attack.

I don't particularly like that solution anyway, I like getting messages from people I don't I have on my friends list (other than spam) some are very entertaining ;p

I haven't received any sort of spam for I don't know how long until the past couple weeks, now I seem to get one or two a week... Very annoying. I only add friends I know and I only post on this forum, something had to of happened.

 

At least there aren't any reports of someone actually getting lured into the message and scammed..... Yet.....

 

Just got one and blocked and reported him. The 0 Gamerscore is a big tell as well.
