I can take the generic, broken story. I can take the minimalist MP. But what absolutely grinds my gear is how this game aims to *** block you at every possible opportunity. On what planet did it seem like a good idea to have a half dozen currencies, cap
the amount you can earn in a week, AND then go ahead and make you grind out levels for the privilege of buying gear that this ludicrous game otherwise GIFTS you with a 1 in a bazillion shot of earning?

I've seriously played 20 F ING hours of this game and have managed to raise the ridiculous excuse of a level cap by a whopping 2 light points. No better weapons either. Still rocking my same trusty GREEN AR in the crucible.

Anyone else come even remotely close to this kind of progress stall?

I have to say this has really soured me on preordering anything from 343 again.

 

Yes. And then magically leveled up 3 times in a day, and am stuck again.

 

I would imagine that the caps are in place to prevent people from absolutely burning themselves out within a day. If people could earn an unlimited amount of marks, you'd see people complaining "I have all legendaries and exotics on all three of my characters.
I'm bored now."

RNG is RNG though. Some people get lucky with their drops, other people do not. There's not much to be done about it.

 

Every now and then I do, but that's part of the game, love it or hate it. I reached level 24 last night after a day or two of grinding and hoping for better gear. Instead of waiting for good gear to drop, run lots of Strikes and do Bounties to rank up with
the Vanguard so you can start buying Legendary gear from the vendors. All my friends have gotten a few Legendary items from drops but I have yet to get a single one... So I've started ranking up and getting marks/strange coins/motes of light and should be
able to buy a few pieces soon.

 

I seem to be stuck in Lvl 24 purgatory right now and it seems like there's just no chance of escape, but I keep grinding for Strange Coins and Rep so I can buy gear until something worthwhile or better falls in my lap.

 

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

 

It sounds like the OP doesn't understand the MMO formula and how content is "gated".
