    Sound through controllers won't work


    I don't know if this is in the right forum, this is my first time posting.recently my Xbox One sound has been terrible through my controllers while playing games. I have been using my Afterglow Prismatic controller as well as my normal Xbox One controller
    that came with my console, and sound through any headphones or headset I plug into the controllers is bad. How it happens is that in menus and such, as well as starting a game, the sound is okay. It then, maybe 30 seconds later, starts to get spotty/choppy,
    making it impossible to hear anything right. Shortly after that starts, all sound is cut out and I can't hear anything through the headset plugged into my controller.

    I have tested the headset, being in a Skype call on another device without problems, abd it seems there is no problem when I watch a video on YouTube. However, if I play a game, such as Over watch, I have the issues I just listed. I also just bought FarCry
    4 and when I started it, sound was instead lagging behind the video maybe a whole 2 seconds.

    To fix this I have tried using a different USB cord with the wired controller, restarting my Xbox, and even going as far as to see if unplugging it for a while would help.

    This happens on both my wired and wireless controllers, and when I have tested, sound comes through my tv itself just fine.

    Am I the only person who has had this problem? Is there a fix? I would much prefer a fix I can do myself at home, if possible. Thank you for any help.

    No Game or TV Sounds Through Controllers

    I'm not getting any game or TV sounds through any of my controllers. I can Skype but other than that, no sounds.

    It was working fine until the sound stopped. I have made no configuration changes. The headset works on other devices, I can Skype, but TV and game sounds are not coming through.

    Steps I've taken:

    1) Reboot console

    2) Update controllers

    3) Try two other controllers

    4) Mute/Unmute controllers

    5) Adjust volume

    6) Power off console

    X1 usb to analog audio?

    It will not work as the device is not supported on the Xbox for one. The sound is all digital on the Xbox One and there is no support for sending the sound through USB. Sound signals are only transmitted through the HDMI port, optical port, and through
    the controllers via the headset adapter. If you find a converter for optical or HDMI to analog, those will probably work.

    To start out, what type of headset are you using? Also, does your Xbox One controller have a 3.55mm port, or are you using an adapter with it?

    Headset or controller problems.

    I have exactly the same problem, working fine through 3.5mm headset jack on controller, next day no sound at all through controller, only through tv. Controllers won't recognise headset plugged in. I have two controller and both the same. Headset ok on other
    devices and worked fine on xbox one s prior. Just randomly stooped recognising headset plugged in.

    Have followed all trouble shooting recommendations and no joy.

    I would suggest using a different USB cable, and trying different headphones. Headphones that have both stereo sound and a microphone use a TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) connector which allows for two audio channels in, and one channel out for mic audio.
    Depending on the manufacturer the order of the connectors, and what channels are assigned to each can differ, the main culprit of this being the Apple airbuds, but you may just want to try some plain audio headphones in the 3.5mm jack and see if that works.

    Sorry to hear it. It may be an issue with the 3.5 mm jack. I would recommend getting an Xbox Headset Adapter and give that a try
