Sound system remote control doesn't work after recent system update

Hi Microsoft,

I ran into the problem that Xbox One can no longer control my LG BH9530TW sound system after the recent update.

Previously it worked flawlessly, but the recent major update ruined it, now it can still control volume up, down and mute, but no longer turns on and off the sound system when Xbox is turned on or off.

It still controlled my Panasonic TV, just the sound system has trouble.

Hope Xbox team fix this issue ASAP, having the Xbox One as my Media Centre is the main purpose of buying it (I don't play much game, too old for that, but I enjoyed linking everything to Xbox One and let it controls them all).

KINECT Issues, Question....IR Blaster, No hand controls

It sounds like your system is working correctly.

The Xbox One system uses the Kinect as an IR blaster to control your TV and/or sound system, but as you've discovered, it is not an IR receiver, unfortunately. It is necessary to point the Xbox One media remote at the console.

With this month's operating system update, dashboard navigation via motion control was removed completely. Voice control is still available. MS also apparently removed the ability to wirelessly sync controllers via the Kinect.

 

How to use Xbox 360 Media Remote

Go to System Settings.

Then Console Settings.

Choose Remote Control -> If your remote dont work with "xbox media" then choose "both remotes"
