Sound problem with HDMI cable

Hi there,

I got a problem. My girlfriend called me today that she pulled out the HDMI cable from our Xbox One s and used it to watch something on the TV screen with her Macbook via Thunderbolt Adapter.

After that that she wanted to go back to the Xbox to use the Amazon Prime App and put it in back the HDMI cable but couldn't start it because the video service did not work. As well, there was no sound anymore. She told me that there were some sound effects
in the Xbox One main menu but actually no sound in the Apps or games at all.

I think it must be something with the settings or maybe the TV screen still adapting to the Macbook settings. Switching with the HDMI cable from the console to other sources worked well all the years with the Xbox 360 but this was the first try with the
new Xbox One S.

I would try on my own but I'm not home for the next few days and I thought that this might be a small and familiar problem and you can help me with my helping instructions for her.

xbox faulty

Sorry to hear about your problems. Sounds frustrating. Did you connect it straight to a tv with the supplied HDMI cable? I had some flicker issues and it was the HDMI cable. I mean it is possible you got two bad systems, but it is also possible you have a couple of crappy HDMI cables lying around your house, like I did.

Sound with HDMI cable?

Hey guys,

my Xbox 360 s recently froze and it messed up the video and audio. I've got an HDMI cable and I've got the video working right again but I don't have any audio what so ever any ideas?

Found the solution:

The cable was broken after the usage of 3 days and pulling it out once.

Real rare damage but I'm glad I found the solution without aggravating circumstances.

Hi, thank you for your answer. I bought a can of compressed air and cleaned out the back of the X-box and also cleaned the area around the X-box of dust and it seems to be working fine now. Thank you!

Hey there Dagill! First off, thanks for the thorough post! It's hard to say off the bat if it's a problem with your TV, console or cable connection. To get to the bottom of it, do you think you could tell us what make and model TV's you're trying to connect
to?

As a first troubleshooting step, can you make sure your console is in a clean and well-ventilated area? If there is an excess of dust or dirt around your console or TV can I have you try cleaning out them out gently with a can of compressed air. Let us know
if this helps!
