  1. Sound Issues With Pioneer VSX-1123 Receiver

    Hello,

I'm having a little sound issue with the Pioneer VSX-1123 Receiver. This receiver has a option where when I turn it off, it can still play the audio and video through HDMI to the tv. It will just play the audio using the TV speakers instead of my surround
speakers. When I do this, it seems the audio will play for a few seconds, then turn off for a few seconds, then back on etc. It will keep doing this until I turn the receiver back on. Is there a setting on the XBox One that I have to change or maybe even
on my Receiver? I have tried everything I can think of so far.

    Thanks!

    :)

SOLLEKS, what type of receiver are you using? I am on Pioneer VSX 1022k and it looks like the pioneer line has issues at this time. I am using intel 2500 hd on my pc with win 8.1

  3. Pioneer vsx-1021-k question

You have to set up the input through your receiver correctly it is where you configure it on your display which is your tv and can be a little technical.. I have a pioneer elite series Vsx-03txh receiver and you must refer to your pioneer receivers manual
mine is on page 70 Called the input setup menu. Hope that helps you. By the way it sounds awesome! 7.1 Thx sound!

If you have your TV connection settings on the One set to "auto" you may change them to "hdmi" and check if that fixes the audio problem, as I think there may be problems with the hdmi handshaking when the receiver is turned off.

  5. I did try that idea out. Didn't seem to do the trick. Any other ideas?

Sri, no idea. Is this only happening with the One or maybe also with other devices like DVD or Blu Ray player? Just to shirt it it's the receiver itself.

  7. It's definitely not the receiver. To be sure, I just tried it out on my Wii U. Turned the receiver off while playing and the audio played fine through the TV. I even swapped HDMI ports so the XBox One would use the port the Wii U was using and it still
stuttered. New HDMI cables didn't do the trick either.

Ok. Then it's an issue with the One. But unfortunately I then have no idea what it can be. Have you tried different Hdmi sound settings yet?

  9. Yeah I did play around with the audio settings. I do recall it working fine before I played around with hooking my cable box up to the xbox one. I wonder if the best thing to do is a system restore. Any ideas if it will save my game progress etc.? I
    don't mind re-installing the games.

As your games are saved are in the cloud this should be no problem.

But if you say it just occurred after you added a cable box, I'd suggest to first try to reset the av and audio settings. This can be done with the troubleshooting in the TV and one guide section.

  11. Well it definitely is not the XBox one! I did reset the xbox but the problem still occurred. However, when I moved the HDMI off the receiver and straight to the TV, the audio was fine. I'm wondering if there is a setting that I need to adjust on the receiver
or maybe the XBox one is just not compatible with the Pioneer?

  12. So, I believe this issue has something to do with the HDMI connection from the xbox one to the receiver. I have tried everything I can think of including resetting the xbox and the receiver. Maybe the next update will fix it but, for now, I have a workaround.
I ended up going optical out from the xbox one to the receiver for audio and plugging the HDMI directly to the TV for video.

    Hi,

I just got an Xbox One and I am having the exact same problem with my Pioneer VSX-822. I was wondering if anyone has figured anything out.

  14. Hi LBW08,

I didn't have much luck. I believe there is an incompatibility between the Pioneer receiver and the Xbox One. I have the same setup on the PS4 and WiiU and the audio passthrough work without any issues. To get around this, I plugged the hdmi cable to my
tv. Then I used the optical audio out on the Xbox one and put that into my receiver. That was the only way I was able to get the audio to work through both the tv and receiver separately. Let me know if you find a better way!
