Sound issues in games.

Hello everyone.

I have had a problem that's quite recent.

When I play games, occasionally the sound will suddenly mute for 1 to 2 seconds before resuming.

Why is it doing this? It's never happened to me before, and has this happened to anyone else?

That is the strangest issue I think I've heard of recently! Can you verify your audio settings on your Xbox match the settings appropriate for you TV, likely Digital Stereo?

So this is a interesting sound issue.



I have a problem with my sound where, while playing a game, when I face the a character who is speaking I can't hear them, I hear the stuff going on behind my character, so in order for me to hear what is going on in front of my character I have to turn
the character to the side or completely around. Has anyone heard of this before?



I am connected to the TV via HDMI and it is a solid connection.

 

Is it doing this when you resume the game from the home screen?

 

I don't recall resuming the game from home screen, but it's done this a few times now, often when I'm well within a game.

 

Are you using a stereo or surround sound headset? (Turtle Beach for example)

 

I'm not using a headset at all. I'm using the TV speakers.

 

Is the sound going out when your on apps like YouTube, or T.V app? Or is it just affecting gameplay?

 

It just occurs in gameplay. It mutes only for a second, but even so, it's annoying as this never happened to me before. I've had my Xbox One since November and it's been working perfectly up until recently.

I did change a setting prior to this issue (something about the screen resolution... 120 from 790 or something)

 

I don't think screen resolution would effect the sound. Have you tried power cycling your Xbox One? (Hold finger on the power button till the Xbox turns off) Try that and tell me if you see a difference.

 

I have done that, yet it still occasionally mutes for a second in games.

It's never in films, just games.

 

The only thing I can think of is it may be a problem with the HDMI cable. Maybe plug your Xbox One to another T.V and see if the problem continues. Or if you can't do that and you have some extra HDMI cables try using a different one.

 

I'll give that a try. It seems to be working okay for now, but if anything happens, I'll give you a buzz.
