Sound glitch with remote play on iOS app

Yup, remote play from any network outside of the network the Xbox is on is currently broken on iOS 16 and has been since iOS 16 beta's initial release.

The reviews on the iOS app on the iOS App Store are filled with people reporting the same, if you sort by most recent reviews.

The steps listed by Dérek will have no effect, as this is a bug in the Xbox app on iOS 16, not an issue with the Xbox or NAT configuration, as evidenced by the fact that Android, iOS 15 and below, and Windows devices will be able to remote play from the same Xbox out of network, but iOS 16 fails for those impacted.

Microsoft has yet to formally acknowledge this in any known issues listings. The best we can hope for is that a fix goes in at some point, versus them continuing to sweep it under the rug.

I'm having the exact same issue.

iOS Xbox app works fine with remote play.

Brand new Windows 10 PC causes the error.

Not only that, AlricLM, but I would like to ask if you tried some troubleshooting steps on your iPhone to discard everything else?

In case you didn't perform troubleshooting steps, I would like to suggest some before considering reporting the problem to Microsoft:

A. Reinstall the Xbox app on your iPhone.

B. Make sure that your iPhone is running the latest iOS update. You can check for iOS updates by opening Settings > General > Software update.

Note: If maybe your iPhone is running a beta version of iOS, it is recommended to go back to a stable version before trying the remote play feature.

C. Try to temporarily connect your iPhone to a different Wi-Fi network before testing the remote play feature and the sound quality.
