    Sound breaking up

Hello there, I’m and I have a problem. No, I’m not an alcoholic. I'm just suffering from an extra bad sound quality when it comes to certain lower frequencies. Now I'm not any kind of an audio guy, so I'll just tell the situation the best
    I can.

    My setup:

XBOne is connected to a TV via HDMI only. My TV’s own speakers are muted, and TV is connected via AUX to a 5-satellite surround system meant originally for a computer. I know it sounds pretty redneck but it's the best I can get with 700$ pay a month.
Settings on the XBOne are correct for the situation: connection is HDMI-only, sound settings are Stereo Uncompressed on HDMI, and Toslink is off.

    My issue:

Everything was working perfectly until the big xbox update about a month ago. I even got a surround-ish feeling while playing. After the update, the sound starts breaking up on all lower frequencies, it sounds like when bass frequencies are so overkill
that the sound system can't handle it. Except that the bass levels are normal, so it shouldn't happen.

    Now, what do I know:

The setup or the hardware is not the problem.

Sound clarity is 5/5 when I connect either my Xbox 360 or my laptop to my TV via the same HDMI-port. I also tested the HDMI-cable itself, and tried changing it as well. The cable works just fine.

Stereo Uncompressed is the only setup I can really use, but it's the only one with the issue.

While trying to use 5.1 or 7.1, the sound clarity is perfect, and the issue is gone. But the downside is that dialogue sounds are nonexistent. I can hear background noices i.e. in a movie, but not the conversation taking place. Apparently my surround
is not surrounding enough. While using bitstream, I can hear conversation and the original issue disappears, but an another appears: the sound directions go haywire. The dialogue comes out on the right front speaker only, the left back speaker only gives out
frequencies close to somebody breathing heavily etc.

Using Toslink is out of the question.

Neither my TV nor my sound system can receive audio through Toslink. Also with the budget issues at hand buying a brand new ShitBlaster 9000 666.9Double-D SuperMegaSurround Sound Home Theater is not an option.

So is there a way to fix this issue or do I just have to wait for either a lottery win or for Microsoft to upgrade XBOne with updates instead of downgrading it, which ever comes first?

    Tl;dr

Latest update destroyed my sound quality on stereo. I've excluded every other option, so it has to be the update and it somehow affecting the packing and/or unpacking of the audio. Anybody else having this problem? Anyone having a solution?

    :)

    Hi Pakanaporsas,

If you're in the Preview Program and received the Next Experience update a month ago, I would suggest posting in the section below. The folks over there would be much better suited to assist with these issues.

I'm afraid I'm not a part of the preview program, the update was some standard update with just small fixes or so. My system version is still "old school" as in no W10 compatibility, no Cortana etc. Thanks for trying though.

Ah I see. So if you're hearing things in 5.1 / 7.1 with no issues, but you're getting it with Stereo uncompressed that tells em that the center channel isn't popping up with Surround Sound. Does the issue happen when you just use Audio from your TV? Do you
have any other speakers you can test to see if it's the signal from the TV and not the speakers? Does your TV output any other devices to these speakers, and does it work ok? At least then you will know where the issue is (Sound from Xbox, Sound from TV to
Speakers, Speakers). If an update did this, then you may have to wait for another update to resolve it (if it resolves it). Stereo uncompressed is exactly that, an uncompressed stream of audio. So you shouldn't see issues packing and unpacking that you do
    with encoded audio.

The problem only appears with XBOne. I've tested the sound system on it's own, with the TV, with laptop, with TV and laptop, with TV and X360... All peachy. If I send stuff 5.1 to the sound system from i.e. just the TV or X360 the center channel works fine.
If I send it stereo, there's no sound breakup. The issue is somehow related to the sound coming from XBOne.

But I guess I'll just sit tight and wait for an another update, or a big enough paycheck to get a surround system with Toslink and try with that.

Anyway, thank you for the answer. Appreciate it.

    Ghost recon sound issues

The only sound issue I've noticed is when it starts to break up just after I've been hit with an explosion, but I assumed this is for effect, simulating the way real transmissions might break up.
