    Disc tray randomly opens

    I have the the new Xbox 360 S. The issue is that the disc tray randomly opens and its not any particular game. Sometimes it opens and closes and other times it would just stay open. It even happens when the Xbox is off and sometimes there isn't any disc
    in the tray. I've tried wiping the eject button thinking it was from dust and finger smudges. I've turned off the Kinect to see if its from the sensor detecting movements or sounds. But neither of these attempts worked, it still opens randomly. I thought it
    could be when the Xbox was getting too hot, but its happened before when I've only been playing for a few minutes and sometimes the Xbox hasn't even been on that day and it would randomly open the tray (I would hear the ding sound and come into the room and

    Xbox Slim will turn off at random...

    My xbox 360 slim will do something similar. It seems to beep at random times, the beep sound is the same as the eject or on/off sound. Most of the time the xbox will stay on and have no problems however sometimes it will just turn off or the disk tray will
    open. I really want to know what is causing this! Haha. If the brick is not unplugged then the xbox will turn itself on and open the disk tray by itself, also randomly. The most worrying thing for me is that it makes the noise at random in and out of game
    play and seems to be harmless except for the few times its opened the disk drive.

    When I first bought my xbox360 slim in 2010 it did the same thing. I hooked it up and put in a game then all of a sudden it started to ding. Ding.ding.ding.ding eject and close with the ding. And shut off and on. I took it back and got a new one. Well four
    years later my new one that i got started to turn off and on with the ding sound. All on random. Is this a power issue?

    I'm waiting for what Microsoft comes up with

    Can I send it in for repair or cut my losses and buy a new one

    Xbox will randomly shut off

    Clarification: After a closer examination, the beeping switched back and forth between the disc tray noise and power switch noise no matter if its on or off. Also those two buttons will make their noise if touched (sometimes) but neither will respond (EX:
    the disc tray wont open/close with the botton and the Xbox wont turn on or off with the button).

    Hi, will the disc tray open if you choose open tray on the dashboard ?

    -

    If the tray operates ok from the dash then I believe the faceplate on the elite is removable, try removing it and check the rear of the button, sometimes the plastic bit on the back breaks off which won't then activate the actual switch on the console, if
    it is broken off you could buy a custom faceplate maybe, they don't cost much.

    If the tray won't open using the open tray option on the dashboard then the console may need a repair.
