    Sound and Picture Issues after playing a game


    Hi all,

    Frustratingly after 6mths of it working fine an old problem is back, and the problem return seems to coincide with the update last week.

    The issue is that after playing a game for a short while and then return to tv the picture jumps and the sound disappears. Then the only way to get it back appears to be a hard reset or I have also found that changing the audio setting from bitstream out
    to something else and then setting it back again also seems to resolve the issue.

    I have spent hours on calls to xbox each time going through various bits to check, all of which do no good. This problem happened back end of last year and although Xbox saying that sky needed to an update to my skybox to upgrade firmware, it actually got
    fixed in January via another update.

    I am certain that this is something that's UK specific....I was nearly charged £90 to fix it, when nothing could've been done. I am glad I stuck to my guns by refusing to pay the £90 and send it, because as I say a month or so later the problem went away
    on back of an update.

    Surely someone else (in UK probably) is experiencing same issue? I did read some people were last time this happened. It just feels that xbox support ignore the needs for using tv functionality in the UK. I have lost count with the amount of patches that
    have gone in that have caused an issue with 50hz refresh rate, and then they fix a couple of days later.

    Hope they sort out quicker than last time cause I really can't be doing with frustration this causes.

    just to make sure the hdmi is in the hdmi out on the xbox and not hdmi in right? the one that goes to the tv?

    Iv set up my xbox one correctly, but no sound or picture has ever been displayed. iv plugged the hdmi cable into input port 5,6,7, and 8 and still no picture or sound. my xbox is powering up correctly...i think. just a white xbox one symbol and the white
    line in the power supply box. it has a disc in there now and no weird noises are being made. I'm not crazy in thinking that if my tv has 4 hdmi plugs that is can operate the xbox one am i? i seriously need some help here, i dont care if i get a green screen,
    i just want to know its working period right now

    Issues after update!

    I had the sound but no picture issue,I had just finished playing titanfall beta & went to go back to the dashboard.

    so I pressed the guide button & lost the picture. Had to turn off the xbox & unplug the power supply then it was fine after that.

    It is something to do with the update as I had no issues prior to the update & now these issues are starting.

    remember the update was delayed & I think this may have been why.

    If it is was hardware the picture wouldn't have came back after a display reset or power reset.

    & it is funny that all the issues are happening to everybody who has one after the update coincidence I don't think so.

    The dvd playback won't work either for my brother in law either, the sound plays but no picture goes back to the dashboard & no picture the power supply trick fixed it for him also.

    The issue/s need to be fixed as this is ridiculous that an update can cause this much damage.

    ok ill try that, i wonder if its because im using a 2009 sharp aquos 46" hd tv. it has 4 hdmi ports, i hope i dont have to replace it just to play this console...

    Still waiting for mine to arrive I will test and let you know.. Maybe try holding down the button so it turns off. unplug the brick wait about a minute plug back in brick and turn back on xbox?

    Sorry for the inconveniences, this is a known issue:

    "Some players have reported intermittent audio issues across the dashboard or when launching games or apps.

    If you encounter this behavior, be sure to report this issue and choose the Report with advanced diagnostics option. Make sure to include information like audio setup, when this issue occurred, troubleshooting steps tried, and other relevant info.

    Workaround: Reboot the console and games should launch normally."

    If rebooting or power cycling your console doesn't help

    (Power cycle)

    1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

    2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.

    Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.

    3. Plug the console power cable back in.

    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.
