Sound and Game Playability Issues

I’ve had my Xbox One since launch day several years ago, so I don’t know if the age of the console is a factor in this predicament, so I’m just laying that out there first.

Until recently, I had been making use of backwards compatibility to play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 via my original Xbox disc. In the last few days, it simply refuses to start. I select it to launch, the console goes to a full screen shot of
Darth Nihlus’s face for about twenty to thirty seconds, and then it just reverts back to my home screen without an error message. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game a few times to attempt to remedy the situation, but that problem persists.

That lead me to attempt to try playing some other games to pass the time, most notably Far Cry 3 and 5. These games will start, and for all intents and purposes are actually playable, save for the fact that there is absolutely no audio to speak of. Not on
the main menus, nor in-game.

This is particularly odd, because my dashboard still has its sound, and when I hit the Home button in the games that have no sound, the normal tones and chimes play as usual, but maintain no actual game audio. My other apps seem to work and have audio just
fine. YouTube, Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon, and Hulu are all fine and play as normal. It’s just my games.

But not all my games. I went through the library I have active on my hard drive earlier today. Far Cry’s 3 and 5 have no audio. KOTOR 2 won’t even start. Dragonball FighterZ has no audio just like the Far Cry games. South Park: The Fractured But Whole has
no audio. However, Assassins Creed: Rogue remastered DOES have its audio, and it’s the only one of the games I have loaded that seems to. Overwatch simply errors out before even starting, with error# TE-10220, for reference.

For the time being, I’m content to watch my shows and YouTube videos, I suppose, but I would appreciate any technical expertise or suggestions.

Did you receive a free game?

Microsoft announced that they would compensate people with faulty disc drives by offering a free game download. I contacted customer support about my disc drive giving me issues (loud buzzing sound, not the grinding noise people have had) and I received
the new box today. Nothing about a free game though. Anybody else? I have had minor issues with game playability as well.

this may sound stupid but can someone who has an xbox 360 still play multiplayer games with someone who has an xbox1
