This is really getting me heated. I've gotten this message on two games: Mirror's Edge and Black Ops. It's weird how I was able to get Left 4 Dead 2 AND all DLCs with no problems for my X1..... What do I need to do to fix this?

For black ops, it seems to be an emerging issue if you are trying to purchase using your Microsoft credits or gift card for the transaction. I don't know about the others

 

@SirenSheng It's not even that. I've used PayPal for my previous purchases. Even bought things for my avatar yesterday no problem. But when it comes to games, specifically Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible games, that message always pops up.

 

I'm also having this same problem with black ops 1 on xbox one. Microsoft needs to fix this

 

Ive just been having this exact same issue, i am now able to purchase black ops from xbox.com after doing troubleshooting so here is what i did.

1) Contacted live support who confirmed my account was restricted from making purchases, the guy/woman unrestricted my account and advised it can take up to 24 hours to work but they would like to try a few other troubleshooting steps to get it working.

2) I was informed to update my personal info witch post codes etc etc, Billing info, Security info ( i used Email and Mobile ) and then also make sure card details for my bank card where correct.

3) I was then advised to try purchase the game on the Xbox console ( even tho i knew it wouldn't work because you cant purchase the game directly from the console on Xbox one ) but i did it anyways and that did not work.

4) I closed down Firefox fully and re signed in and tried to purchase the game again...and it worked the payment went through and now i can download the game on my X1.

So i would advised you guys to contact Live support to see if your account is restricted and then follow my steps.

I have the same problem as you guys with black ops 1, I can't buy dark souls PR left for dead 2, but it world with Kane and Lynch 2, I don't get this. I love in Norway and I have the preview program. All Xbox One titler work but not all 360 titles.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble purchasing Black Ops 1. Currently you are unable to use account balance through your Xbox One or Xbox.com for Backward Compatible Games. If you haven't already please try using an alternate payment option here on Xbox.com.

If you're currently using a child account you'll need to make the purchase from your Xbox 360. Let us know how it goes

 

I have had the same issue. Spoke with someone through xboxlive chat. They said everything was fine with my account and that i should wait 24 hours and everything should be fixed. This was almost two weeks ago and still having the same issue. It seems to
be with older xbox 360 games... i was able to purchase fable 3but not fable 2, i attempted to purchase mass effect and fall out 3 both older xbox360 titles and received the same message. Extremely frustrating, especially since I went through the channels and
was assured that the problem would be fixed and still has not.... This issue needs to be taken care of....

 

Hey, Canadagurl! You will want to make sure that your account region and your physical location are the same. This can cause issues with purchasing similar to what you are running into.

Had the same issue with red dead. Especially frustrating when when live chat lied to my face stating that they had logged issue with engineers and it could take some time...then five seconds later said the issue would be resolved within 2 hours. Clueless.

 

I am having a ridiculous difficulty to try to buy a game this promotion with backward compatibility ... or rather, do not buy. I just spoke to an attendant support xbox Brazil and she said that this is only happening for the backward compatibility shopping,
and many others! In my case or with account balance (gift cards) can buy ... pitiful. I added money for nothing. I want to see if they will do something for me! deadly hatred! ...

 

Same problem here. I tried to gears of war 2 for the discounted price of $6.XX (after all, I'd bought several map packs for it back when it was current, but no longer have the physical disc to play it), but was met with the purchase error others have mentioned.
Now the game is no longer on sale and they're asking $19.99 for it. So it looks like I'll be going on eBay to buy a used disc at a reasonable price instead. There's absolutely no way I'll pay $20 for an 8 year old game, and especially not one that has had
3 newer releases in the franchise! In my opinion, games of that vintage should be priced in the $5-10 range all the time, and the dlc should be reduced also. As it stands, it's basically price gouging.

 

I've had similar problems but while trying to DL games with gold backwards compatibilty titles, either on xbox one dashboard or through xbox.com. I've missed out on several free games over the last few months because it keeps saying "Sorry your purchase
cannot be completed at this time. Please try again." I've retried repeatedly and unsuccessfully on several occasions only for the games to be removed from games with gold offer. Currently cant download Rainbow Six Vegas 2 because of this issue (after many
attempts this month from both dashboard on console and xbox.com). Please sort this MS
