I have been trying to find a way to fix this issue for a week and have finally given up.

Every time I attempt to download Borderlands (which is free with gold) from either Xbox.com or Smartglass I am given the error message that I cannot purchase it online and need to do so on the Xbox.

I do not have a 360 available, only the Xbox One.

What is your current (physical) region and account region? The two need to match or you will run into this issue.

Your billing address should also match both the other two, and you can check that here:

@nitehawk the issue is because you are using an child account

The only way around it is using a parental account rather then yours or a 360 console

The one store uses a webportal rather then the emulator to access the marketplace

 

If you read the above answer it solves the issue

@ngocphi that cannot be true. I contacted support and not once did he say that having a child account would cause and issue. On top of that the issue happens when I tried to Borderlands (which is backwards compatible) from my Xbox One and got the same message.

Then360 marketplace doesn't work like the. One you don't have the same swrttings

One cannot bypass then 360 parental settings that's why you can't download it

And this has already been verified by forum. Support

 

The one only accesses the 360 marketplace via a Web portal

I'm not going into detail because it is lengthy to explain the differences

 

It has a lot to do with regions and billing options and parental settings

Regions is the main thing you cannot change the region of an account on the fly like the xbox one for good reason

It will cause issues with billing and games

 

I dont have any restrictions on my account and I never had an issue making downloads from my 360.

 

If there is some kind of parental settings I can set to allow my son to purchase from Xbox One/Xbox.com, I'd love to know where they are, because I am at a loss.

I've tried changing every setting I could find and setting them be to unrestricted or "Adult" for his account. I've added a credit card with no restrictions on purchases. I've logged onto an Xbox 360 and purchased something just to see if that would help.
It of course works on the actual console, but still nowhere else.

I just don't understand why it isn't my choice about letting my child purchase something on Xbox.com. I extremely regret not putting his age in as 18+ on his account because of silly things like this.

 

I like how someone sits in here trying to tell me that I am a complete idiot. The only idiot out of all of this is Microsoft. They have a completely *** backwards systems. I am locked out of download free content that I am technically paying for since it
is suppose to be a part of being gold. I cannot change the age on my sons account to my actual age which is completely *** stupid. Microsoft really needs to get their *** together. I spent a whole day with support and not a single representative could figure
out what was wrong. Now I have to wait for it to get to the "experts" to figure out what is wrong, which just means I will never hear from them again and will need to contact another support agent.

 

There isn't and @nitehawk according to your previous post it's a parental permissions issue

And no nivisec there is no setting which you can enable

You have to wait till your account turns 18

@nite it's a legal issue

You cannot bypass parental settings nor can you change legally or in real life the age of a child

You can only make your own account

 

Why would I make another account just to prove I am over 18. This account did not and does not have any restrictions on it. I do not have a parental account that can download anything for me and like most people with this issue I don't have a *** 360 anymore.
