"Sorry, this console can't play until your subscription payments are up to date."

I made a mistake and bought an Xbox 360 off of someone on craigslist. (Had I known that this wasn't recommended, I would have reconsidered)

Anyway, my console is now getting this error saying that it can't play until my subscription payments are up to date. After talking with a few folks at MS, they advised that I go to the person who sold me the Xbox and try to get them to transfer ownership
to me. Needless to say, I got no response from the guy and no help from MS. I'm basically sitting on $200+ of MS gear rendered virtually useless. Bottom line, it seems as though MS is making me suffer for purchasing a product that wasn't sold to me directly
from them, and won't help me figure this out or transfer ownership even though I pay for my live subscriptions and am willing to continue paying if they would only help. I can't do ANYTHING on this console anymore, not until the ownership issue is resolved.
Anyone have any suggestions or perhaps gone through a similar situation that can help me out? I can't even sell this thing anymore. I'm stuck with it..

Xbox 360 is unusable.

I bought this Xbox 360 brand new on ebay and never signed up for any subscription.

Is there anything I can do? My Xbox 360 is unusable.

My Xbox is telling me. Sorry, this console can't play until your subscription payments are up to date and Microsoft account not available . It won't even let me play a game but I'm still signed into Xbox live

 

Sorry to say but you got scammed by someone. There is nothing you can do but take it up with the person that you purchased the console from. This is one of the reasons that Microsoft advises against the purchase of second hand consoles. Microsoft can
do nothing to help. You will have to pursue the seller.

 

Exactly. Sorry this happened to you but you may be able to get your money back from the guy. Contact your local authorities and explain the situation to them and how the console was purchased by the seller on a payment plan. He did not pay and sold you
a console that cannot be used and now he will not contact you back. They may be able to get your money back with threats of fraud charges.

I have a question concerning this topic as well. I bought a console from my cousin and it recently started to display this message. He bought the Xbox on November 10, 2012. If I were to wait until the 10th of this year, would my console unlock?

Very same problem as well, my friend. you are not alone! called MS xbox support 3 times and i was given three different answers, the 2nd guy cleared the xbox into its factory default and i assumed it was fixed until i tried to play a game; the other agents
said to sell the console & get another (now thats not very professional). Now that i have read all these blogs, im going to request a supervisor for something that isnt even my own fault..PROGRAM YOUR SYSTEM TO SOMETHING THAT CAN BE FIXED EASILY! any other
microsoft device doesnt have this problem. BILL GATES should look into this

 

You were ripped off. This message means that the console was an Entertainment For All system already registered to someone else.
