Hi, for the last 2 days I turn the Xbox One on, it loads directly to the Games & Apps screen. I cannot sign in, and cannot open anything up including the Home screen by using the home button on the controller.

Everything I do brings up the error

Sorry, that didn't work for some reason (0x80070002)
Can anyone help - what can I do? The console is as useful only as a paperweight right now..

I have done the Power Reset multiple times and makes no difference. I can't even get into settings to run a reformat on the machine..

When I try to sign into my account it takes longer than usual to load. It then prompts me to a window that says "Sorry, that didn't work for some reason. (0x80070002) ". I've restarted my Xbox and wifi but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what's happening?

Hello, power the xbox off, press and hold the bind and eject buttons, press the power button once, keep bind and eject held and shortly a troubleshooting screen should appear. On the screen select the reset option, choose to keep your games & apps.

If you still have issues after that then do the same process again but select to remove everything on that troubleshooting screen.

Could you try it again, be sure you are pressing and holding bind and eject and only press the power button once, keeping bind and eject held, give it at least a minute before giving up although the screen should appear within around 20 seconds or so.

If you're really struggling you can factory reset the Xbox using a USB flash drive. Be aware that going that route will wipe all your games etc off the Xbox though.

Offline System Update will help your Xbox One console boot up. Give that a shot and hopefully it works. If not, unfortunately your Xbox One may be in need of repairs. If that's the case, you can initiate that process over at the
Online Service Center.
