Sony STR-DN840 AVR remote code?

Hi, has anyone got a Sony STR-DN840 working with the XBox? It's not in the list, but it's big brother the DN1040 is and when that is selected the volume voice commands work, but it doesn't switch on or off with the Xbox. I was hoping the March 4th update
would help but no luck. If anyone has the remote code or knows another model I can select that works I'd be forever in their debt. Thanks, Nick

X1 stopped turning on and off my audio receiver since update

I've just bought a Sony STR-DN840 that refuses to turn off via Kinect. Only reason I'm posting though is to +1 the unhappy wife problem. "i just want to watch the TV". When will they learn that TV is a complicated business now?

 

Xbox One X Unprocessed 7.1 not working unless set to Unprocessed 5.1

I have an Xbox one X hooked up via hdmi to my Sony str dh770 AVR.

The avr is then hooked up via hdmi to my samsung.

I have left center right and 4 surround sound speakers and a sub. When I set the xbox settings to 7.1 unprocessed and then set the sound field to PLIIx on the avr I still only get 5.1 and 2 silent surrounds.

If I change that setting to 5.1 unprocessed on the xbox settings then I get sound from all 7 speakers when using PLIIx

What is the deal

still no luck. Some of the codes make the amp's display spark into life when i "volume up" but none of them control the volume or on/off. Thanks again for having a go.

 

Ohh on/off. I figured none working my mistake (I missed it, you had it there... Long week), wow that answers a lot. It is highly likely that AVR is using a discrete IR command. It is known. I do not have a timeline. Sorry, I would rather be upfront. Thanks

Thanks, I appreciate you being upfront as it stops my pointless search for IR codes. As long as it's going to be fixed eventually I'm happy, I just need to keep pressing on/off, I'll live.

 

I've noticed that the str-dn840 now appears in the list but it still doesn't turn and and off with the xbox. I'm hoping that discrete IR commands are in the April update, any idea if they will?

Thanks for the update Xninja Original. All I can say for the moment is that discrete codes have been well noted and are in the works. Have you seen a setting within the str-dn840 that you are able to manually change the ON/OFF command (another channel)?

 

I've been using the strDN1000 codes for my 840. Those turn on and off plus volume control. I did have to put an IR blaster plugged into the back of the xbox one and set the other end right in front of my av receiver. I know this is an old post, but I hope
it helps.

 

Thanks pinhedgtr. After the June update, the STR-DN840 codes work fine too.
