Sony STR-DH540 and XBOX ONE SOUND PROBLEMS

Hello I am looking for some help with my Xbox One and Sony STR-DH540, for some reason I am unable to get 5.1 surround sound. When I set the Xbox One audio settings to 5.1 the receiver pops up and says Linear 3/2.1 but I only get audio from the right and
left speakers no rear or sub. When I try to switch to digital surround the receiver goes in to DTS mode but again shows 3/2.1 and again on audio from right and left no rear or sub. Has anyone else had this issue or is anyone else using a Sony receiver with
out any issues.

Be glad your getting that. All I get is left & right channel on everything from dts to 5.1 uncompressed it doesnt output center or surround channels. So far this system is a complete joke.

Actually, I just found that by setting the front speaker size to "small" on the receiver makes the subwoofer work. Still no surround for XBone games, but everything else is working like it should now (XBone set to 5.1 mode or DTS mode has the same result)

Sorry I should have been more descriptive, I have tried both HDMI and the optical out but still not luck. I am able to get full surround sound using composite red and white cables on my surface and macbook but once I try hdmi via the mini display port I
only get right, left and center. It must be something I am missing with this receiver.
