  1. Sony Bravia For Xbox Series X

    Hi Folks,

Been an avid xbox gamer since the first xbox and will be looking to get the series x when it's out.

My current TV is a Sony 50" kdl-50w807c which tbh is the best TV I have ever owned and xbox one gaming on it is incredible.

    This tv isn't 4k nor 4k ready.

I'm concerned that the series x won't work on this tv and worried about this hdmi2.1 being mentioned.

Like a lot of people don't really have money to go and buy new tvs and tbh nothing wrong with the TV I have.

I do understand if I can use my current TV It wont be as good as say an 8k TV would there be any issues with screen freezing etc on my current TV?

Apologies if this has been asked already and apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section.

    Thanks

    David

    :)

I don´t see there any problems. The Xbox One X works great on a none 4K TV too. So why should it be any different with the Series X?

That the Xbox Series X supports HDMI 2.1 doesn't mean your TV needs to support that too. You can user your old TV with the Series X for sure.

All dvd or blueray players are backwards compatible

You just wont gewt things like hdr or upscaling or enhanced graphics that some games have

2.0 has hdr as long as your tv supports it

    Hi David.

Xbox Series X uses HDMI 2.1 which is backwards compatible with HDMI 2.0 and lower I believe. I also have HDMI 2.0 on my Sony Bravia and it will work just fine.

    Hope this helps.

"I'm concerned that the series x won't work on this tv and worried about this hdmi2.1 being mentioned."

As long as your TV has HDMI 2.0 ports, you should be fine,

the only need or use for HDMI 2.1 is if your wanting to play games at 4K on 120hz refresh rate display's.

"I do understand if I can use my current TV It wont be as good as say an 8k TV would there be any issues with screen freezing etc on my current TV?"

8K TV's are kind of pointless at the moment, there's very little or next to no 8K content to justify getting one and your never going to be gaming at 8K on the Series X.

    "This tv isn't 4k nor 4k ready."

"Like a lot of people don't really have money to go and buy new tvs and tbh nothing wrong with the TV I have."

I can't state this more than enough, if you don't have or not going to be getting a 4K display, i would recommend at looking to get to Xbox Series S instead,

it will save you money by not paying for something your not or never going to be getting the full potential out of,

The Xbox Series X is primarily a 4K gaming console,

The Xbox Series S is primarily a 1080p gaming console,

For me personally, if anyone buy's an Xbox Series X just to only use on a 1080p display's, that just wasted money as you'll wont get to see the full potential of what it's capable of, to me that money down the drain.

As an example... take PC gaming as an example, your not going to spend upwards of £/$3000 for a PC gaming build that capable of 4K gaming to then only use it on a 1080p display, and yet some people do, but if there happy to throw their money away on something
that their never getting the full potential out of, that their choice as long as there happy with the choice they made, but i would only see money being flushed down the drain.

With this day and age now, i can see the same consideration to be taken with consoles. match the system capabilities with what display your using, just as what most PC gamers do,

    A 1080p gaming PC for a 1080p display

    A 1440p gaming PC for a 1440p display

    A 4K gaming PC for a 4K display.
