It is asking my son for his password when he tries to use his profile. There has never been a password. His account / profile works great on the 360 but not the One.

Changing xbox 360 account

If your son's account is registered as a child account under your ex's adult account, she will need to

release your son's account from her "family".

If you wish to add your son's account to your own "family", you can do so with the

steps described here.

HELP! Son's account deleted

Hi

Have you tried to get your son to just sign in with his account on the console again? hopefully it should then then recognise his gold membership and as he starts playing games it should download the game save from the Microsoft server.

Thx. That's what I thought it would do, but it assigned him a new gamer name and didn't access his live account.

Theres always been an account password, the password you use to sign on here would be the one you need.

When the account was first logged into on the Xbox 360 there was a password attached to it. What happened is you probably clicked remember me so it wouldn't log you out of that account. The same password you used to login to post on the fums you would use
on the xbox as well, unless it's a different account.

If you don't remember the password, you can reset is as long as you know the information on the account. Password reset can be found: (Reset your password)

Hi, it sounds like you have two different accounts. Try signing in with the gamertag you see on your family account, with the email and password associated with it. If it isn't displayed on the Xbox, open the guide, tab all the way to the left and select
add new. Insert original details used and that should sort it out.

Just to confirm, does your son receive any specific error code/message when trying to purchase something? What is being purchased (a game, subscription, etc) and is this on an Xbox console, PC or another device?

Is your son part of the same Microsoft Family where you’re the parent/guardian as the adult?

You can call support on the phone and they can give you the ID but you will have to reset it at

First please turn the console off and unplug it for 30 seconds to clear cache and that could fix this.

Second, please remove and redownload the account as seen here, if you haven't already:

Next, if that doesn't work please factory reset the console keeping games and apps to remove all accounts from the console but keeping your games and apps installed: Settings > System > Console Info & Updates > Reset console > "keep games and apps".

Go to Billing > No thanks > Error messages & codes > Contact options > chat with xbox support or request call back.

If you are logging onto the wrong account that could also cause this. Please check to see if the login emails are the same here:

Log in to the account with this problem and locate the email in the top left of the dashboard and see if that's the same one you're using to log in.

If the name is different then it is a different account.
