Sonic & Knuckles lock-on issue with other Sonic games on XB1

I was very pleased to see Sonic & Knuckles added to BC.

Unfortunately, the lock-on feature for Sonic 1, 2, and 3 is not working for me.

I own all four games and all are installed on my XB1. When I attempt to access the games via the S&K main menu, I am instructed to re-download them, even though they are already on my hard drive. Because of this, I am unable to access the lock-on feature
at all.

Anyone else having this issue? Hopefully this can be fixed soon, as it's a major reason I and many others wanted all of these games added to BC.

That game your are talking about where different discs gave you different monsters reminded me of Sonic & Knuckles on the Genesis/Mega Drive.

If you haven't played it Sonic & Knuckles was the continuation of Sonic 3 and when you added Sonic 3 on top of the lock-on cartridge you got the complete game Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Now when you put in Sonic 1 on the lock-on cartridge and pressed A,B,C & Start on the control pad you got the Blue Sphere Game (which was the special stages in Sonic 3 & Knuckles) and you could put different games in to the lock-on cartridge and get a single
level per each different cartridge.

Yeah, I never had that game but I remember my friends use to always talking about doing that but I never understood what they were talking about haha

 

Hey there, I'm able to use the feature with no problems, I also own all of the Sonic Games from Sonic 1,2 and 3 and CD. What happens when you try re-download them?

Are you seeing the problem when you try to sync your save data with the cloud? Have you tried to uninstall all of the games including Sonic and Knuckles and then re-downloaded them all again?

I have tried deleting and re-installing all four games, including Sonic & Knuckles, with no luck, unfortunately. Syncing my cloud data hasn't resulted in the issue being fixed either.

 

Hmm, try heading into My Games and Apps and highlight Sonic and Knuckles, then press Menu on the controller to open up a menu to select “Manage Game” >Saved Data/Reserved space>“Clear reserved space” After you clear that reserved space try to launch the
game again and see if it works.

 

That was actually the very first thing I tried before deleting the games and re-installing them. Didn't work, sadly.

Appreciate the help though. Guess I'll just hope the issue sorts itself out in the future.

 

Bummer, are you able to try playing using a different profile to see if that has any effect? Also are the games installed to the internal hard drive or to maybe an external hard drive?

Are you able to load up each game individually and save a new game? I'd try (if you haven't already) to start a new game in Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles then try to do the lock on content again. I'm wondering if maybe the game looks for a save file
and one of those isn't working properly.

Also, you'll want to fill out the Backward Compatible
SURVEY if we can't get this going. So the Backward Compatible teams can become more aware of what you're seeing.

 

I went ahead and tried those suggestions and alas, nothing worked.

Same problem, tried all suggestions bar switching accounts. So you're not the only one with this problem.

Done the survey. Hopefully this will be resolved before long.

 

I actually tried all the suggestions including trying it on another account as well as removing the cloud saves and starting completely fresh. You are not alone bud. Survey filled out as well

 

Are people still having an issue with this? It still hasn't been fixed for me. S&K received an update recently on XB1 and I was hoping the problem had been fixed, but alas, I still can't play any of the locked-on versions of Sonic 1, 2, and 3.

 

Just checked, and still no luck. I haven't tried any of the suggestions though, but I have my doubts anything would work still.

 

Hey guys,

Let's go ahead and try these steps which are a little bit different than Monkiedude22's steps.

1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
   
   Note Double-tapping the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.
   
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All settings.
4. Select System and then select Storage.
5. Select Clear local Xbox 360 storage.
6. Select Yes and restart the console. This will not affect your cloud saved games or Xbox One games and profiles.
   

Your console will then restart and once you open up Sonic and Knuckles again, try to open up the Bonus Content menu and launch the game again to see if there is any difference.

 

Hey Mister Mascot, thanks for the suggestion. I went through every step. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the issue. I am still unable to access any of the lock-on content.
