while my 8 yr old was playing GTA5 tonite he received message that said go to messages then view profile and tap A and B buttons fast and you can get free gold membership and while doing this screen turned blue Xbox comes on but doesn't seem to do
anything I have no clue what he's done ANYONE?

Family Membership Adding Members

No it's not inactive, he's playing on it right now. They had one Xbox, one gold membership and 3 profiles, then we bought two more Xboxes. The gold membership, with 8 months left, is on one of the new ones. The other two have been using the free 1 month
trial memberships that are due to runout in a couple of days. All 3 boxes are working and accessing live no problem.

So all 3 have valid, current and active windows live accounts, all with hotmail email accounts.

As none of them are old enough to purchase the family pack I had to create a new profile and buy it. This worked fine and I got a confirmation e-mail etc. I've checked that the region is correct etc.

On that same machine I can sign in, go to add members, see and select the existing profile that my son is using on that machine. Follow the on screen instructions and I end up with the error message.

Is there some sort of time period that has to pass before I can add members?

I haven't activated any parental controls, does that make a difference?

yes he was playing his dads copy online yes I know bad mom bad w/e I have 6 kids I'm very flexible if it means someone's quiet NOW back to the original problem any suggestions?

 

Is this on the 360 or the One?

You've not provided a lot of information for people to help you with.

If the 360 then try starting the console with the hard drive removed. It's possible the combination corrupted something there.

On the One there is a glitch/exploit that essentially wipes the consoles operating system when a certain button combination is pressed. In this case you would need to return the console for repair.

As a side note please consider using the parental controls on your child's account and make sure it is set to receive messages from Friends Only, that way this situation can never happen again. Here is a link to more information about the Parental Controls

wow, I haven't seen anything like that, but that really sucks. I googled a few different variations of what you mentioned to see if anyone else reported anything like that and I didn't come up with anything. If you ever get it working again, and you are
going to let your kid play online, turn off messages from anyone but friends.

 

Mom of the year award! Seriously, just because you have too many kids to handle doesn't give you an excuse to see/ do things that are not suitable for his age. This is part of the reason why America's *** up and kids these days are ignorant bass turds.

yeah, GTA is just full of stuff that a kid shouldn't be seeing or hearing. It's rather ridiculous that a parent would let little kids play it when there are so many other kid-appropriate games out there. Oh well...parents create their own problems. Wait
until the kid is a teen. That's when your early parenting choices bite you in the rear.

 

Not just allowing them to play it, but using the game as a babysitter to give the parents some "quiet".

 

Yeah, why not just roll the kid a joint while your at it? That has a nice relaxing effect as well.

 

Oh! And don`t forget a nice bottle of JD to go with the spliff, lol
