Something's wrong with my Xbox 360

Hello all. I have a problem with my Xbox 360. This didn't happen when I first got it in 2014, so I'm confused. What happens is that even though I do not use it for any period of time and there's no accumulated heat, it shuts down the minute I turn it on
from "overheating", sometimes twice in a row. What's going on?

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to handle this issue. I can totally understand how this could be puzzling. I suggest trying the steps outlined in our support page entitled

Xbox 360 console turns off unexpectedly if you haven't done so already.

If those steps don't work it might be best to replace the console or to upgrade.

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I don't have another TV but I unplugged and left it and bought a brand new hdmi and it's fixed/sorted itself now.

Also be sure to check if all cables are connected properly... but it sure sounds like a hardware problem

Have you tried to use a different TV as well as it can be an issue with the TV's HDMI port or the console's HDMI port.

If the same issue occurs after trying a different TV, you may need to create a repair order for your console by signing in to https://account.microsoft.com/devices.
