Something needs to be done about DDOSers

Tonight i was teamkilled on rainbow six siege, and messaged the person politely telling them it was wrong, in which they responded okay, dont worry, sending some love your way. afterwards, my internet became super slow and i was kicked offline multiple
times for an hour. now i reported it, but everyone knows nothing is being done because it is hard to prove. but xbox is allowing people to get your IP through their service which contains personal information and that has to be a liability. he was brave enough
to even threaten me as he did it knowing they will do nothing.

I definetly think more needs to be done about DDoSers, especially if they have rackes up multiple complaints!

As Owen said.... mute, block, report. Action will be taken. It just takes a little bit. There are almost 50 million unique users on Xbox Live. You are not the only one having issues.

 

Sorry to hear it. Xbox does not allow others to get the IP address from their service, people use outside links to get into that info which is pretty much available to anyone if you know where to look.

As for personal info, an IP address only gives a general area as to where you are connecting from. It sounds like the other person was running your IP address into a website that was knocking you offline.

A DDoS attack is illegal and could result in the person doing it facing jail time. If you're attacked unplug your modem/router for 5 seconds to fix it. You should also report the attacks to your ISP and request a new IP address. They will also investigate
the attacks and take any necessary action on their end.

 

Unfortunately there's not much that can be done in regards to a DDoS attack.

To be perfectly honest, the likelihood that they are getting your IP address is unlikely as Xbox is provided with a private IP address (provided by router).

You have 2 IP addresses, one public and one private, The public IP address is the IP address assigned to you by your ISP.

In the instance it is happening, there are a few things you can do to prevent it. Like applying a filter to your router to drop packets from a specific address that you can obtain using specific networking
software.

However, I'm not able to provide the information as it's not really an Xbox issue, I can only give advice and point in a right direction.

I understand they don't give the IP intentionally, but he did extract my IP through his computer FROM an xbox message connection i sent. if i wouldnt of messaged him or joined his party he wouldnt of been able to ddos me.

 

If you are worried about your IP address being taken, I suggestion buying a VPN router or, running a VPN service through your router.
