"Something" goes wrong when I try to redeem 24M Xbox Live Gold Code

I have a 24M Xbox Live Gold Code that I purchased on Amazon.com. It will not redeem. The code itself is recognized by Xbox Live as being a 24M Gold subscription, but once I hit confirm, it simply pops back up with a message that reads:

"Something went wrong. Give it another try. If this happens again, let us know..."

I've tried redeeming the code through two different browsers (Safari and Firefox), and I've tried redeeming the code via my Xbox One. All give me the same result, and a variation on the following error:

"Xbos-0x80169CF9

cde876d8-f6c5-4f22-a829-52cdb0539a21

2015/01/09 - 16:17:47 UTC"

I have already searched through forums and tried power-cycling my console. It did not work.

Xbox Live Gold - redeem code isnt working

I purchased Xbox live gold code 12+1 for my Xbox 360 but when I try redeem the code it say(on xbox.com site):

Something went wrong

XBOS1005

I tried redeem code directly on Xbox and it says that code is invalid. What's wrong?

I am receiving error code Xbos-0x80169D3A5031AA9F-90FE-4BDB-910C-4841294F3E16 when attempting to redeem a 12 month Xbox Live subscription code. Any ideas? The text says, "Something went wrong. Give it another try." This has been occurring since last night.

Error 80169cf9 occurs when you try to redeem an Xbox Live Gold code

You see the following error code and message when you try to redeem an Xbox Live Gold membership prepaid code or token:

This error message occurs when you have an active membership but auto renewal is turned off, and the payment instrument that was used to purchase that membership has been removed from your account or is no longer associated with your membership.

Solution

Because the payment instrument has been removed from your current membership, you will not be able to add a prepaid code or token for a membership while your current membership is still active. You must wait until your current membership has ended to redeem
the token. Membership tokens do not expire. To find out when your membership will end,
sign in to your Xbox account and tap or click
Subscriptions to view the end dates for your current memberships and subscriptions.

 

I'm experiencing thus issue right now. I'd like some clarification on this - if I let my membership expire so I'm able to use the code that I purchased, will I still be applying the code to the account that I've held on xbox live for some 7 years? It sounds
like I'm about to have to give up my account to use the code.
