Someone Threatened To Boot me Offline And Has My IP Saved And I Have Video Proof.

To prevent further harassment from that person you need to know the following:

When you restart your internet router/gateway, you usually get a new IP address from your Internet Provider. So if you simply reboot your internet hardware, you have a new IP, and that person can't do anything with the old IP they got from being in a Party
with you.

Secondly (and most importantly), block and mute that offending person, so they can't communicate with you.

If that person is a friend of one of your party members, make sure that YOU are the one creating the party, set the party to private, and invite your friends to your Party. That way your "friends" can't invite that person to your party, and he can't get
your IP to boot you offline.

The problem with Xbox seemingly "doing nothing" is, that those DDoS attacks used to boot you offline happen outside of the Xbox Live network. They are not specific for Xbox. They simply get your IP because you're in a Xbox party or online game lobby with
the person. But they could get your IP any other way as well, be it a Skype video call, or a multiplayer game on any other platform.

If the person actually booted you offline via a DDoS Attack, make a note of the date and time when the DDoS Attack happened, and contact your Internet Provider.

As DDoS Attacks are illegal, they can then report the attack to the police, and with your information when the attack happened, they can then use the data on your ISP's logs to press charges against that person.

So you can get that person actually arrested. Xbox could only suspend the account, if they did something against the Microsoft Terms of Use. Since the DDoS Attack didn't happen on a Microsoft Service, they can't do anything.

Calling out gamertags is not allowed on the forums & asking people to report someone can also get you into trouble for abusing the report feature.

getting someones ip address is not illegal as its a public address, this address if accurate will only show the region and possibly state you live in, it only becomes illegal if they do any nefarious things with it.

block him and dont let him into a party and he cannot get your ip, if you need to change ip ring your isp and have them initiate an ip change, or switch off your router for about an hour then back on and its possible it will just renew the ip.
